Doraine Cuthrell Smith | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Doraine Cuthrell Smith, age 75, a resident of Belhaven, NC died Sunday July 30, 2023, at her home.

    A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday August 4, 2023, on the grounds of her home. Rodney Sawyer will officiate the celebration. The family will receive friends with light refreshments served following the celebration.

    Mrs. Smith was born in Beaufort County on January 29, 1948, daughter of the late Keith Conisten Cuthrell and the late Effie Deloris Allen Cuthrell. She was a 1966 graduate of Pantego High School. On August 11, 1968, she married Chester William Smith who survives. She studied to become a dental assistant and worked for Dr. Johnson in Belhaven. Mrs. Smith also was the owner of a pre-school at her home. Most recently she was a volunteer at Martha's Thrift Store in Belhaven. You could tell how much she loved gardening and flowers just by looking at her yard. She loved art and expressing herself through painting. Other hobbies were ballroom dancing and traveling.

    Surviving along with her husband, Chester, of the home are her children: Shanna Allen Smith-Galicia and her husband John of Fuquay-Varina, and Darren Reeves Smith and his wife Angie of Bath; two brothers: Keith Cuthrell and his wife Deborah of Virginia Beach, VA, and Rob Cuthrell and his wife Cindi of Bath; and her grandchildren: the apples of her eye, which are John Allen Galicia, Ally Galicia, Grace Smith, and Ameila Smith.
