Julian Anthony “Tony” McGowan | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Julian Anthony "Tony" McGowan, age 81, a resident of Kelly Road, Bath, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023, at his home.

    The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven.

    Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, August 20, 2023, at St. Clair's Church of Christ, Hwy 99, Bath, conducted by Craig Hagen. A burial will follow the church cemetery.

    The following will serve as active pallbearers: Kent Gurganus, J.D. Klapp, Greg Cox, James Everett, Glen Houston, and Mitchell Everett.

    Mr. McGowan was born in Beaufort County on September 21, 1941. He was the son of the late Julian Ralph McGowan and Malvina Ross McGowan. Mr. McGowan graduated from Bath High School in 1959 and later Wilson Tech. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. McGowan was a retired auto mechanic and currently farmed catfish.

    Mr. McGowan was married to the former Virginia "Ginny" Pegram, who survives.

    Surviving with his wife are daughter, Robin Capps (Russell) of Bath, son, Scott McGowan (Elizabeth) of Fayetteville, daughter, Tracy Lewis (Austin) of Engelhard; grandchildren, Molly White (Jesse) of Fayetteville; Tori, Joshua, and Caleb Jackson of Bath; Ray, Jacob, Alex, and Taylor Lewis of Engelhard; and great grandchildren, Wade Jackson, Ella Lewis, Brantley Lewis, and Parker Lewis.

    In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Clair's Church of Christ, 9814 N.C. 99, Bath, N.C. 27808.
