Mrs. Olivia Leary "Libby" Leggett | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Olivia Leary "Libby" Leggett, age 64, a resident of 2457 N.C. Hwy 171 North, Washington, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at her home.

    Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 26, 2013 at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, conducted by Mike Oliver.

    The following will serve as pallbearers: George Everett, Billy Bennett, Robert Earl Bennett, Ward Leggett, Ray Leary and Kenny Asby.

    Mrs. Leggett was born in Craven County on March 4, 1949. She was the daughter of Adelene Bennett Leary Gurganus and the late Forrest Willard Gurganus. Mrs. Leggett was a retired clerk and cook with Slatestone Grocery. She was a member of Mary's Chapel Christian Church. In her spare time, Mrs. Leggett enjoyed reading, cooking, knitting, crocheting and loved the beach.

    On April 25, 1970, she married John Bill Leggett, Jr., who survives.

    Mrs. Leggett is survived by her husband, John Bill Leggett, Jr. of the home; her son, Tripp Leggett of Washington; her daughter, Misty Norman and her husband, Robert of Washington; her mother, Adelene Gurganus of Aurora; her brother, William "Bud" Leary and his wife, Patsy of Washington; several nieces and nephews and special sister in law, Sharon Everett and special friend, Sue Leary.

    Mrs. Leggett was preceded in death by her father, Forrest Willard Gurganus.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.
