    LuAnn Rogers Evans, age 69, a resident of Chocowinity, NC, died Wednesday September 20, 2023.

    A visitation service will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm September 23, 2023, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and at her home, 349 Carrow Road Chocowinity NC, 27817, after the service.

    There is a template for these kinds of things: facts, dates, names, we have all read them and some have written them; however, my mama was not simply a template. She was not simply any one thing. She was Mama, Honey, Mema, Sister, Aunt Lulu and so much more. She was light and love and quiet strength. She was warmth and kindness understanding and forgiveness. She was hugs and kisses, fearless and spirited. She was a teacher and student. She was ornery and stubborn, kind of a pain. She was hard on herself and easy on others. She was proud and a fighter. She was a warrior and survivor she was a lioness and teddy bear. And today my mama is a was.

    She is survived by her husband of 37 years John S. Evans Jr. (PePa), her oldest and wisest Gloria Long Mills and wife Jessica of Chocowinity, her miracle child Angela Faye Twiddy and wife Nick of Washington, and "favorite child" Michael Braddy and wife Mavelle of Louisville Kentucky; her grandchildren: Alex, Emily (her Angel) Dylan, Lee, Koen, Austin, Kelly, Beth; and great granddaughter: Kastle; three sisters: Linda Faye, Ann, and Mary Lois; countless cousins, nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors.

    She was preceded in death by her parents: Mary Louise and Gaston Rogers; her sisters: Ruth, Jenny, Kathy, Becky, and Sandra; and nephews: Mike, Bob, And Carlton.
