Lawmakers Expect To Get Classified Briefings On UFOs | Eastern North Carolina Now

House members expect to receive classified briefings related to retired Air Force Maj. David Grusch, a former U.S. intelligence and military official who claims the government is covering up a UFO retrieval program.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) first shared the news to X on Tuesday, nearly three months after Grusch testified to a House Oversight panel, saying lawmakers were given the go-ahead to be briefed in a SCIF (sensitive compartmented information facility). Joe Khalil, a News Nation correspondent, later explained what the briefings might entail.

"CONFIRMED- I'm told there will be 2 members only briefings: One w/DOD Inspector General, the other w/Intel Community Inspector General," he said on Wednesday. "The Intel Community IG, according to UAP / UFO whistleblower David Grusch, has specific info Grusch provided that he couldn't share publicly."

The Debrief first reported in early June that Grusch, who alleges a multi-decade retrieval and reverse-engineering program has been illegally kept from Congress, provided classified information to both inspectors general and that a whistleblower reprisal investigation had been opened. In his testimony before Congress in July, Grusch went as far as to testify under oath that "non-human" biologics have been recovered from UFO crash sites.

Since he came forward, Grusch has faced skepticism due to his insistence that there is some information he could not divulge to lawmakers outside of a classified setting and because he said there are certain details he learned second-hand, from other officials while leading efforts to study unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), the government's preferred term for UFOs.

"This would take thousands and thousands of people for such an unbelievable cover-up to be occurring," House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner (R-OH) said in a Fox News interview. "And for people to speak with such confidence over something that they do not know is, I think, something certainly everybody needs to be concerned about."

Still, lawmakers have been pushing for more transparency ever since the hearing, prompting a letter to the UAP Caucus from Intelligence Community Inspector General Thomas Monheim that said his office "has not conducted any audit, inspection, evaluation, or review of alleged UAP programs within the responsibility and authority of the DNI [Director of National Intelligence] that would enable this office to provide a fulsome response to your questions."

The Department of Defense set up the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) to investigate UAP reports. AARO's director, Sean Kirkpatrick, told CNN in a Wednesday report that he has "no evidence that suggests anything extraterrestrial in nature," but he encouraged anyone who might have information to contact his team.

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN), who has been a leader in pushing for Congress to get more access to secret UFO information, told News Nation that he expects the classified briefings to take place by Christmas, though he suggested the plan might be in flux as the House struggles to fill its speaker vacuum, among other issues.

"I'll believe it when I see everything. They're scrambling right now. They're nervous, and they should be," Burchett said, adding that people at the Pentagon "should be" nervous.
