Ronald Elden Allen | Eastern NC Now

    Ronald Elden Allen, age 99, a resident of Pantego, NC died Tuesday November 7, 2023, at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home in Washington.

    A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday November 11, 2023, at Davis Cemetery with Ethan Coltrain and Eddie Ewell officiating.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday November 10, 2023, at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven.

    Mr. Allen was born in Beaufort County on November 25, 1923, son of the late William Elden Allen and the late Ina Elizabeth Dunbar Allen. He was a graduate of Pantego High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. On February 2, 1946, he married the former Wanda Juanita King who preceded him in death on July 14, 1987. After his military service, he was a shipping clerk with Swifton Meat Packing Co. in Kansas City, KS. Following his working career, he relocated back to his native Pungo. He was a member of Pungo Ruritan Club, Belhaven American Legion Post 249, and Union Grove Church of Christ. He loved gardening and fishing. Mr. Ronald, and his family were preparing to celebrate his 100th birthday in a few days.

    Mr. Allen is survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased, along with his parents by, his wife Wanda, a son Don, his brothers: Frank, Arnold, and Nelson Allen; and his sisters: Mildred Brown, Elizabeth Tooley, and Lorene Gray.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
