Barbara Jean Waters Snow | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Barbara Jean Waters Snow, age 83, a resident of Washington, NC died Thursday November 9, 20223 at her home.

    A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday November 14, 2023, at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Eric Woolard.

    Mrs. Snow was born in Beaufort County on May 6, 1940, daughter of the late James Luther Waters and the late Lillian Faye Cherry Waters. She was a graduate of Washington High School and continued her education at East Carolina University, where she earned her master's degree with a major in Spanish and a minor in Language Arts. She married Edward Lee Snow on June 3, 1961, who preceded her in death on September 28, 2020. She was a teacher in Beaufort and Pitt counties and was a member of the National Education Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the International Teacher's Organization. Mrs. Snow was also a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Eastern Star, and the Moose Lodge.

    Survivors include a daughter: Cathy Snow of Washington; and a sister, Sandra W. Wynne of Washington. She was preceded in death, along with her parents and husband Edward, by two brothers, James Luther Waters, Jr. and Justin Waters and two sisters, Joyce Whitehead and Carolyn Cherry Waters.

    In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to the charity of one's choice.
