When the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles screened footage on Wednesday night of Hamas atrocities from their October 7 attack on Israel, violent clashes broke out as anti-Israel activists moved in to "disrupt" demonstrations by Jewish supporters of Israel, prompting police to respond.

Roughly 200 people, including Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, an official with the Israel Defense Forces, and Hollywood executives, showed up for the screening of "Bearing Witness," a 43-minute film showing the Hamas atrocities. Some of the footage was actually taken by the Hamas terrorists themselves.

The film reportedly excluded Hamas' murder of infants and rape of women that has been widely revealed elsewhere, prompting some attendees to react with anger, saying that people should see the full barbarity of the atrocities committed by Hamas, The Hollywood Reporter noted.

Oscar-winning director Guy Nattiv, who helped bring the film to the U.S., credited famed Israeli actress Gal Gadot, of "Wonder Woman" fame, and her husband Yaron Varsano, for helping him make the screening possible.

The violence at the Museum of Tolerance occurred on the night of November 8 in Los Angeles, but it was already November 9 in Europe, which was the 85th anniversary of Kristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass), the night when the Nazis instructed there be a series of pogroms targeting the Jews of Germany, the annexed part of Austria, and parts of the Sudetenland. Although the Nazis reported 91 Jews had been murdered, later scholarship found that hundreds of Jews died, as many died later from their injuries.

"As the pogrom spread, units of the SS and Gestapo (Secret State Police), following Heydrich's instructions, arrested up to 30,000 Jewish males, and transferred most of them from local prisons to Dachau, Buchenwald, Sachsenhausen, and other concentration camps," the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum notes.

Rabbi Marvin Hier, head of the Museum of Tolerance, spoke before the film screened, saying that experts have estimated that there should theoretically be 200 million Jews in the world but "there are only 14 million because we are the leftovers of pogroms" like the massacre of 1400 Israelis by Hamas on Oct. 7, as he called the terrorist group "the Nazis of the 21st century."

Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, said he came from New York because "screening this footage is of the utmost importance. It will change the way you view the Middle East and the way you view the war in Gaza ... Hamas, just like the Nazis and ISIS, view Jews as insects to be exterminated."

"Hamas must be eradicated," he declared. "This is the only way to prevent another massacre.... If Israel doesn't eradicate this evil, mark my words: the West is next."
