    Sallie Joyner Sawyer, age 69, a resident of Pantego, NC died Monday, December 4, 2023, at her home.

    A graveside service with Nursing Honors will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 8, 2023, at Yeatesville Cemetery and will be officiated by Ricky Adams.

    Mrs. Sawyer was born on June 18, 1954, to the late Willis Lee Joyner, Sr. and Fannie Shackleford Joyner. On April 10, 1988, she married Jerry Scott Sawyer who survives. She worked for 50 years as a registered nurse. Mrs. Sawyer enjoyed gardening, going to the beach, traveling and the Lord. She was a member of New Hope Church of Christ in Pantego.

    In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Crystal Miller and husband Darren of Pinetown; a son, Paul Bartle and his partner Jackie Respess; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Sawyer Harris of Belhaven; four grandchildren, Carson Hasty, Abigail Bartle, Alyssa Woodward, Ashleigh Woodward; and a brother, Willis Joyner, Jr. and wife JoAnn of Pantego.

    She is preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Tripp, Alma Holloman, and a brother, Donald Joyner.

    The family will receive friends at the home.

    The Sawyer family would like to extend a special thank you to Bobby and Leigh Tetterton.
