School Board seeks to hide behind teachers and staff

What is this really about?

The video above is from the Beaufort County School Board meeting on January 16, 2024. The board spent 40+ minutes discussing and ultimately approving a resolution supporting the administration, the administrative staff, and teachers.
The issue that prompted the expenditure of this time during a meeting of a “Body Politic” charged with overseeing the operation of a local school system is a fund-raising mailer supporting five candidates for school board elections in the 2024 election cycle.
This mailing outlined a number of issues which need the school board’s attention. The analogy here is “the hit dog yelps.”
The resolution repeated the oaths the current board members swore to when they were seated.
There was a suggestion that some board members were contacted by parents asking if the mailing came from the school board. This is preposterous as the mailing was clearly signed by a campaign coordinator and five new candidates seeking board seats.
Is this resolution an election interference by a ‘Body Politic?” A body politic is a well-defined term in the North Carolina General Statutes? Is it appropriate for an elected body to participate in a primary election while participating in a public meeting of said “Body Politic”?
All members of the school board voiced their support for the administration, administrative staff, and teachers. Three members voiced their concerns with the resolution and voted not to support it because they believed it was nothing more than political theater.
The mailing at the center of this issue detailed the student performance scores which were published on the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction web site at the end of the 2022-2023 school year. The school scores displayed on the NC DPI web site revealed that eight of the 13 schools in Beaufort County schools scored a “D” letter grade for this school year. A “D” grade rating is 40-54 on a numerical scale. 50 years ago, a “D” grade was 70 on the numerical scale.
The previous school year revealed there were then eight schools with “D” grades at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. This is indisputable.
There may be many reasons presented for low performing schools. However, one reason for this may be leadership or the lack thereof. Leadership from the NC DPI that sets the standards for student academic achievement and the leadership of local school administrators that select the curriculum to meet those standards cannot be exonerated from their responsibilities.
Meritocracy is now shunned and is being replaced by Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, (DEI) which is being pushed in public schools in the form of Critical Race Theory. DPI Core math is still in NC text books even though common core math was dropped from the NC DPI standards several years ago.
Prospective school board candidates cannot be held accountable for the results of the current administration’s failure to produce results which are outlined in their mission statement which is read by a board member at every regularly scheduled meeting.
Defending the actions of the school administration in the face of poor student performance is to be expected. However, the administrative staff, including the superintendent, offered no comments on this issue during this public meeting.
The November 2024 elections are 10 months from today. Will there be a new resolution every month until then?

Like the old Soviets, the far left in America is trying to doctor history with things like the 1619 Project, whose author even admits is not history, tearing down monuments, and removing books of true history. Their role models used to proclaim "history is on our side" and the modern America far left has modified that to "the right side of history" in their attempts to rewrite the past.

Because Bob the “mask” is an attack on everything this country was founded on. We know all men are created equal in the image of God. Who is God, but the fountain of life and waters of healing. Do we think, we, being made in the image of God, should be afraid of a microscopic germ? There has been sickness and death since the beginning.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” To say you are “looking out for others” by wearing a mask, is a bit of a reach. As it is nowhere in the constitution that any man has the right to be safe. Safety, like happiness is a frame of mind, and not something that men or government can grant an individual. For example, some may say that tyranny, oppression, and martial law would make them feel safe, but to me, I would feel less safe. |

W- will never understand how masks could generate such a reaction considering the newness of the pandemic. Its just such a nothing burger. Sure nobody liked it but it just seemed like common sense. Like saying please , or thank you. Looking out for one another. Costs nothing. |

"Cheeseman faction" is a very apt term for the five school board incumbents running this year plus Williams. They all dance on Chesseman's puppet strings. Beaufort County deserves better. Two districts even offer a choice of two solid challengers each running against Cheeseman's henchmen. If you don't like the conservative the PAC is running, go with the other conservative. Just make a change. For too long, the tail (superintendant) has wagged the dog (school board) and that needs to change. This year's set of incumbents have failed miserably and need to be replaced.

WE need to keep the woke agenda out of our schools. The woke agenda is being pushed down on us from USDOE in Washington and NCDPI in Raleigh, and we have a local superintendant who goes right along with it. As long as the Cheeseman faction has a majority on the school board, this stuff is going to be hard to stop because they just sit there like bumps on a log and go along with whatever Cheeseman spoon feeds them.

There are members of this school board who thought that mask mandates were somehow a good idea, and did not perceive them to be a psychological operation and the absolute assault on individual liberty that they are. They had no problem mandating that all have to symbolically muzzle themselves, but made it clear that some of their own children were to be exempt for valid reasons.
When others were to present their reasons for not wanting to mandate a civil infringement upon all students, then those arguments were deemed invalid. What then is the definition of a hypocrite? |

offended because someone is trying to let them know our district needs to do better.
Our schools are failing because these boards member do absolutely nothing! They are idiots!! These board meetings are nothing but drama they have no resolutions.
