    Mrs. Judith Brooks "Judy" Council, age 61, a resident of 5593 Terra Ceia Road, Pantego, NC died Tuesday June 18, 2013 at her home.

    A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday June 21, 2013 at Free Union Free Will Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Tony Parrish. Burial will follow in the Council Family Cemetery at the home. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews: Daniel Paul, Louis Paul, Allen Cuthrell, Hollis Brooks and members of Pantego Volunteer Fire Department: Michael Craddock and Wesley Waters. Honorary pallbearers will be remaining members of Pantego Volunteer Fire Department. The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday June 20, 2013 at Free Union Free Will Baptist Church and other times at the home.

    Judy was born in Beaufort County on November 23, 1951 daughter of the late Charlie Jackson Brooks, Jr. and the late Frances Grey Boyd Brooks. She was a 1970 graduate of Pantego High School and earned her business degree at Hardbarger Business College in Raleigh. Judy married James Robert "Robbie" Council, Sr. on September 23, 1973 who preceded her in death on September 20, 2012. She worked as a medical secretary at Belhaven Family Practice. As a member of Free Union Free Will Baptist Church she served as an adult choir member and a toddler Sunday school teacher. She was also a past member of the Pantego Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

    Survivors include two sons: James Robert "Jimmy" Council, Jr. and wife Tracey of Belhaven and David Alan Council of Pantego; three sisters: Darlene Paul and husband Richard of Pinetown, Diana Paul and husband Louis Wilson of Pinetown and Glenda Cuthrell and husband Brian of Belhaven; a brother: Charlie J. Brooks III and wife Brenda of Pantego; five grandchildren: James Robert "Jamie" Council III, Jeni Lyn Council, Lucas Daniels Council, Wyatt Swindell Council and Seth Robert Moye Council and eighteen nieces and nephews.
