Kansas state universities board bans DEI statements in admissions and hiring | Eastern NC Now

as state legislature moves to end DEI

ENCNow

The Board of Regents of the state university system of Kansas has adopted a policy to prohibit use of DEI statements in admissions or hiring on its campuses.  The move comes as both houses of the Kansas legislature have passed a bill to end DEI on state university campuses, which the state's Democrat governor has balked at signing and the legislature has held $36 million in funding for the universities over her head if she dioes not.  The bill from the legislature includes robust powers for the state's Republican attorney general to enforce its provisions.  The lack of enforcement provisions in the new Board of Regents policy may make it unacceptable to the legislature.
