    Raleigh, NC     The Office of Governor Pat McCrory announced the following direct appointments today:

    North Carolina Appraisal Board

    Cory Gore (New Hanover County) - Gore is president of Gore Properties and Appraisal Group LLC. Gore is the vice president of the North Carolina Professional Appraisal Coalition.

    David Reitzel (Franklin County) - Reitzel is the president of Community Bank Real Estate Solutions LLC. He has served as a state chair for the N.C. Association of Realtors Appraisal Section and as a national delegate for the association.

    Dwight Vinson (Catawba County) - Vinson is a state-certified general appraiser for Vinson Appraisal Services Inc. He is a member of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers.

    The North Carolina Appraisal Board licenses, certifies and regulates real estate appraisers, including processing license applications and processing applications from schools and other organizations wishing to offer prelicensing/certification and continuing education courses. Each term is three years.

    North Carolina Board of Architecture

    John Monteith (New Hanover County) - Monteith is president of Monteith Construction Corp. The company specializes in healthcare, education and institutional building. Monteith serves on the board of directors for New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation. He has been appointed to a seat designated for a public member.

    Steven McClure (Mecklenburg County) - McClure is the president of Spectrum Properties Residential Inc. Prior to becoming president, he served as vice president/partner for the company. He has been appointed to a seat designated for a public member.

    Mr. John H. Tabor (Mecklenburg County) -Tabor is the managing principal of Tabor Architecture. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and has previously served as president of the Charlotte chapter. He has been appointed to a seat designated for an architect.

    The North Carolina Board of Architecture ensures that only persons with a minimum level of competence are permitted to practice architecture and that practicing architects act according to professional standards. Each term is five years.

    Governor's Advisory Council on Aging

    Patricia Polley (Alleghany County) - Polley currently serves as chair of the Alleghany County Council for Aging. She also serves on local library boards and is a member of the Rotary Club of Alleghany. Prior to living in North Carolina, she spent 11 years as a municipal clerk for the City and Borough of Juneau, Alaska.

    Donna Creech (Johnston County) - Creech is the former executive director for Johnston County Council on Aging and now lives in Oriental. She works part-time at a local clinic for low-income individuals. She will serve as chairwoman of the council.

    James Scott (Halifax County) - Scott is an instructor at Caledonia Prison and helps inmates earn their GED and is instructor of a career readiness Certification course. He is currently a member of the Halifax County Council on Aging.

    Martha Vaughan (Dare County) - Vaughan currently works at Spring Arbor of Outer Banks as an activity assistant for the memory care unit and the Outer Banks Family YMCA as the active older adult coordinator. She previously worked with the aging community in Dallas.

    William "Bill" Griffin (Mecklenburg County) - Griffin founded Griffin Home Health Care and still works as president and CEO of the company. He also co-founded Home Medical Services of NC Inc. and still serves as treasurer of the organization.

    The Governor's Advisory Council on Aging makes recommendations to the governor and the secretary of Health and Human Services that are aimed at improving human services to the elderly. It also studies ways and means of promoting public understanding of the problem of the aging and advises DHHS in the preparation of a plan describing the quality, extent and scope of services being provided to elderly persons, among other duties. Each term is four years. The council has 33 members, including 15 members appointed by the governor.
