A black female Texas legislator has become the latest elected offfcial to switch from Democrat to Republican. Texas State Representative Shawn Thierry (D-Houston) has announced that she has switched her party registration to Republican, saying "I am leaving the left and joining the party of family, faith, and freedom." Theirry had been a voice within her own party against radical gender issues, and received considerable pushback from Democrat party bosses.
"The Democratic Party has veered so far left, so deep into the progressive abyss, that it now champions policies that I cannot in good conscience support, policies like promoting sex changes for children during a vulnerable stage of their lives and dismantling Title IX protections for women in sports," Theirry explained. "I have wirnessed first hand how the "liberal" left stifles thoughtful debate, silencing dissent with an iron fist - demanding blind obedience to ideology,, where one must comply or be cast out."
