Clean Comedian Kerri Pomarolli plays the Turnage Theater | Eastern North Carolina Now

For Immediate Release

Clean Comedian Kerri Pomarolli brings laughs for the ladies for this year's Ladies' Night Out at the Turnage Theater in downtown Washington, NC on January 27th at 8pm. Though Kerri knew from a very young age that she wanted to make people laugh, her very Southern mother had different plans for her. Kerri was instead enrolled in dance classes, and was well on her way to becoming a professional dancer until she was diagnosed with scoliosis at age 1l. Kerri quickly knew that her dreams for a ballet career were over. Determined to be on stage, however, Kerri decided to try acting. She was cast as the lead role in a local production of Lillian Hellman's "The Children's Hour", where she officially got the theater bug. Right through high school she continued to perform in theater, musicals and commercials. She toured Italy with a classical theater study program through the University of Michigan and performed in the Greek Operetta, "The Bachae." While in college she studied at Stella Adler Conservatory in NYC and went on to London to study at the British American Drama Academy, where she was offered a role in "Revenger's Tragedy" at the prestigious Young Vic Theater. She impressed director Simon Stokes (Dangerous Liaisons) so much he cast Kerri in the lead role as Vindice even though the part was written for a man.

After college Kerri moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting, where she was quickly drawn to her first love, comedy. She graduated from the two-year program at Second City and performed on the main stage in LA with "The Thompsons" for a season. She also studied at the Groundlings for Improv and joined the award winning theater ensemble, "The Actors Coop". Kerri paired up with known television actor Gary Hershberger to co-found the inspirational drama ministry, "Act In Faith" that is getting rave reviews for their honest and heartfelt dramas on life's tough issues. They perform at marriage conferences and church events across the country with the theme "Real Life, Real Problem, and Real Faith".

Kerri went to Hollywood searching out fame, but found compromising her faith was not worth the star on the Walk. Rather, Kerri decided to do stand up, which allowed her to control the material she worked with. She did her first gig, in all places, at the world famous Hollywood Improv. Although she performed in front of a very secular crowd, Kerri was the only performer asked to come back, and she has been honing her craft ever since by working the comedy club circuit. Word has gotten out, and Kerri has become one of the most sought after Christian comedians, touring extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada. She has shared the stage with such diverse comedians as Ron McGehee, Sherri Shepherd, Carlos Oscar and Anthony Griffith.

I love watching, and taking pictures of small beautiful things just as much as I love making images of wide sweeping vistas. It is all part of God's natural plan, and I am fortunate to have the opportunity to record it for all posterity.
