    Sunday, February 6     Terrific Turtles!     3 p.m.

Did you know that 2011 has been declared "The Year of the Turtle"? Come to this one-hour program and learn about the many terrific turtles that call Goose Creek State Park home. Discover their habits and habitats, and learn why their very existence has been threatened. Meet in the Visitor Center auditorium as we celebrate these wonderful reptiles!

Sunday, February 13      The Bald Eagle      3 p.m.

Freedom. Strength. Honor. Courage. Resiliency. All these terms can be used to describe our country and the people who call it home. Thus, it is fitting that the bald eagle serves as the symbol of the United States. Once threatened with extinction, the bald eagle has made a slow, awe-inspiring recovery. Come explore the history of our nation's emblem. Meet at the Visitor Center for a brief presentation. Then bring binoculars and accompany a ranger to the Flatty Creek Overlook in search of our nation's icon in flight.

Sunday, February 20      Our Native Marsupial       3 p.m.

Have you ever wondered about the opossum? What a curious-looking animal it is! Is it a rodent, a weasel, or something else? And why is it so well adapted to living around people? We will explore the nature of this unusual and fascinating animal. Meet in the Auditorium of the Visitor's Center for this forty-five minute program.

Sunday, February 27       Animal Tracks and Signs       3 p.m.

Think you are hiking alone? Just because you don't see wildlife, doesn't mean it is not present. Come discover the tracks and signs left behind by some of Goose Creek's wildlife. After this program, never again will you hike through the woods and think you are alone. Meet at the Goose Creek Visitor Center for a brief presentation followed by a hike to the park's swim beach to view the tracks of some of Goose Creek's very own residents.

The renovated and recently revived Turnage Theater has fallen on some pretty hard times as of late, and is being forced to shutter its doors.
I love watching, and taking pictures of small beautiful things just as much as I love making images of wide sweeping vistas. It is all part of God's natural plan, and I am fortunate to have the opportunity to record it for all posterity.
After four full days of frozen Mac'swood cabin fever, I struggled out to take an iced numbing look a my old muse.
When the ice took over, it was unrelenting, and with the full sun of cloudless days, the snow saw little melt
It was hailed as the Bomb Cyclone, a storm consisting of warmer moist air from the Gulf of Mexico that picked up a spinning motion after its center crossed the northern Florida coast, now over the Gulf Stream, and without delay barrelled north up the Atlantic Seaboard.
Sunsets are a natural phenomenon, and always a process where one can estimate that the evening will produce a magnificent sunset, but, one can never be altogether sure until it either happens, or the light of the day unceremoniously just turns dark.
