Sex education at the Beaufort County Community College | Eastern North Carolina Now

Should the taxpayers be paying for this?

This article is about the Beaufort County Community College sponsoring a LGBTQ+ Club on public property. The letters LGBTQ+ stand for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer. The “+” is undefined. It probably means ‘any other sexual issue you can think of.”  We say this club is sponsored by the Community College because it is advertised on campus media and the meeting space is provided by the College. All other on campus clubs are required to have a faculty advisor. We do not know who the faculty advisor is for this club.

Commissioner Hood Richardson made a motion for the Board of County Commissioners to give their disapproval of the sponsorship and meeting on public property (paid for by the taxpayers of Beaufort County). The Club should meet private property, not on taxpayer owned property. Condemnation of the Club was not requested by the resolution. The vote against Richardson’s resolution was 5 to 2. Voting for the resolution (not to allow the Club to meet on public property) was Stan Deatherage and Hood Richardson. Voting in support of the Club using taxpayer funded facilities were: Commissioners Frankie Waters, Jerry Langley, Ed Booth, Randy Walker and John Rebholz.

There was a lot of discussion. Readers are invited to see the video on cable TV or call the County office to see other ways to access the video. Most of the justifications given by those who supported the LGBTQ+ Club were embarrassing. Reminds us of advice one mother gave to her children: “If you keep your mouth shut, no one will know how dumb you really are”.

The Chairman, Fake Frankie Waters, believed this is a First Amendment of the US Constitution issue. Free speech. They have the right to assemble on public property and be sponsored by the College. Questions to Waters about the KKK or the Nazi Party or any other far out group having the same privileges were not answered.

John Rebholz said this is a Biblical issue having to do with “Love thy Neighbor.” He did not respond to questions about his responsibility as an elected official to protect the public interest.

Jerry Langley, a minister, voted to support the LGBTQ+ movement on public property.

Ed Booth thought the LGBTQ+ Club had the right to use college property.

Randy Walker saw nothing wrong with the LGBTQ+ Club being sponsored by taxpayer dollars.

A request was made by Commissioner Richardson for the College President and the Chairman of the Board to attend the Commissioners meeting and defend their actions. Neither made an appearance, but they promised to attend the November meeting The LGBTQ+ Club is simply about (unique) sexual behavior. Sexual behavior of any kind is not usually discussed in polite society. We believe sexual behavior is extremely personal and private. We also believe that young minds should not be encouraged to experiment with sex by public education systems. It is not fair to young people to hold up education at any level as being right and correct and necessary and then to endorse sexual behavior, especially this kind of controversial sexual behavior.

Psychologists tell us that the mind is not fully developed and mature until about the age of 26 years. Those who are trying to destroy our American Culture know they must mold minds before that age. Consider we are having the same problems in public schools. Teaching children there are multiple sexes sows confusion in their developing minds.

All other clubs sponsored by the Community College complement either courses or curriculums taught at the College. Like welding, math, etc. We are curious to know which courses and curriculums the LGBT+ Club complements?

The public and the church community should be alarmed. Both communities should take a strong stand against these sex clubs. Once they get their foot in the door they will be hard to handle. Our children and young people are victims.

The Community College has a President who handles day to day operations. The President answers to a Board of Directors or Trustees chaired by Kathleen Simpson of Washington. Some trustees are appointed by counties, some are appointed by the Governor, some by the House of Representatives, some by the State Senate and some by the Board of Education. There are 17 trustees. Strong complaints should be made to the Chairman of the Board, the Board members and the Community College President. All contact information is available on the internet or by calling the College.

There is a Federal law against sexual discrimination, bullying or harassment. This law does not require that sex clubs are allowed. Title IX only requires non-discrimination. It does not require embracement of any particular sexual orientation or organization. We believe the school sponsoring this club is a violation of Title IX.

We call into question the character, moral and religious judgment of every individual supporting the Club on public property identified in this article.

John Rebholz, Jerry Langley and Randy Walker are running for re-election as County Commissioners in November. In our opinion they should not be returned to public office based on the LGBT+ Club issue alone. Their votes and arrogant behavior speak volumes about their knowledge of our Constitution and Christian beliefs.

Sex is only one of the issues in the Beaufort County School board races. The conservative candidates in contested races who deserve your vote are Stacey Davis, Malissa Polk, Daniel Hudson and David Hudson.  They are willing to do the hard work to see that students are taught classical mathematics, cursive writing, and true history. They will root out the emphasis on sexual orientation.

At some point, it is reasonable for there to be questions as to how far your community should go to lend agency to certain movements or ideas.

The fact that there are contrasting discussion of ideas is a noble point in the American experiment of real and robust Freedom of Speech.

In response to Big Bob's constant derision of MAGA, it is also a noble point to allow all reasonable groups with productive points of views, like MAGA (Make America Great Again), on the premises of BCCC.

Sex clubs? What the hell is wrong with you?

Gay community college students have a right to meet on public property. So does the KKK.

MAGA- only old white men have rights

Title IX as adopted by Congress and signed into law by the president does NOT make "sexual orientation" or "gender identity" a protected class. That comes from Biden and Harris trying to go around Congress to amend Title IX through rulemaking. Twenty eight states have federal court injunctions against enforcing that interpretation because what Biden and Harris did is not legal.

North Carolina is the only southern state NOT protected by one of these injunctions. That is because our ultra-liberal state Attorney General Josh Stein, who is now running for governor, agrees with Biden and Harris that biological men should be forced onto girls sports teams and into their locker rooms and bathrooms. Stein is the real radical in the governor's race.

Beaufort County Community College has an even bigger problem in that it has embraced the Marxist concept of DEI.
