Jamesina Lou Strong Ross | Eastern NC Now

    Jamesina Lou "Jamey" Strong Ross, age 80, a resident of Chocowinity, died Friday November 15, 2024 at the home.

    A private remembrance service will be held for the family at a later date.

    Mrs. Ross was born in Chicago Illinois on October 19, 1944, daughter of the late James Strong and Margaret Macquaid Strong. She was a graduate of Crown Point, Indiana High School and continued her education at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago where she earned her Registered Nursing Degree.

    On October 5, 1969, she married Alexander Ross, who survives. Surviving along with her husband are sons Evan Andrew Ross and his wife Sandra of Sterling Virginia, and Robert Nathan Ross of Calabasas, California; brothers Eldon Strong and his wife Pauline, and Thomas Strong, all of Crown Point Indiana, and sister Paula Richards and husband Brian Richards, of Sarasota FL, and grandchildren Evan, Brody, and Landon Ross.

    Mrs. Ross continued her nursing career in Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, and Virginia, where Al's work relocations took them. In addition to nursing, Jamey became a supporter of her boys' music activities, a true "band mom" through middle school, high school and college programs. She also loved cooking, entertaining, and needlework crafting.

    Upon retiring and moving to Cypress Landing in Chocowinity, Jamey came to love being on the water and being involved in boating club activities. She also became an active volunteer at the Purpose of God Annex, serving on their Board for many years.
