Cecil Ellsworth Allcox, age 89, a resident of Washington, North Carolina, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

He was the beloved husband Jean Barrow Allcox for 67 wonderful years. Cecil was a retiree of DuPont in 1993 with 39 years of service and a dedicated member of the Vanceboro Masonic Lodge # 433, where he served as Past Master, as well as a member of the New Bern Scottish Rite and the past President of Sudan Shriners serving with the Sudan Truckers. He was a member of the First Church of Christ 10th Street, Washington, North Carolina. In his early years, he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at Wilmar Church of Christ. Cecil spent most of his life in the Wilmar Community until moving to Bayside Shores in Chocowinity, NC.

A man of many passions, Cecil found joy in the simple things-fishing and crabbing, watching the Tar Heels play, enjoying Mountain Dew and plain potato chips, and playing catch with his pride and joy, his great-granddaughter Ellie Brook. His love for family was immeasurable, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce, and Beatrice Allcox. Cecil is survived by his loving wife, Jean, daughter Cheryl Sutton and husband Mike of Stokes, NC, granddaughter Faith McLawhorn and husband Ryder of Winterville, NC, and great-granddaughter Ellie Brook. He also leaves his sister, Jeannie Dixon and husband CM of Wilmar, NC, niece Yvonne and husband Tracey, nephew Adam and wife Tanya, several nieces and nephews, and a host of cherished friends.

Family meant everything to Cecil, and his legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A celebration will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 12:00 PM in the Chapel at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 222 W. Stewart Parkway, Washington, NC 27889 or First Church of Christ, 520 E. 10th Street, Washington, NC 27889.

A special thank you to Sharon Cherry from Gentiva Hospice.

Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington is honored to serve the Allcox family.
