    Ann Tayloe Kivett, 75, died on August 5 in Oklahoma City where she had been visiting family.

    There will be a Memorial Service at Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, GA on Friday, August 16 at 2:00 p.m. in Kellett Chapel. There will also be a Memorial Service at the First Presbyterian Church in Washington, NC on Saturday, August 24, at 2:00 p.m.

    Ann is survived by her three sons and their wives: Dave and Beth, Mike and Kara, and Josh and Brooke. She also had seven grandchildren: Durham, Sophie Ann, Jerry, Grace, Michael, Ryan and Caroline.

    Ann was born in 1937 in Washington, NC; the second child of Dr. Joshua Tayloe of Washington, NC and Mary Ann Jamison of Callaway, VA. She graduated from Washington High School in 1955 and went to Saint Mary's College, and then the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education.

    Following college, Ann taught elementary school in Wrightsville Beach, NC - the first step in a life dedicated to helping others and bringing joy and laugher to all those she met.

    On July 15, 1960, Ann married Jerry David Kivett of Graham, NC - a loving union that would last until his passing 50 years later. Throughout her life, Annie, as she was known to her grandchildren, positively shaped the lives of those around her - Jerry, her sons, her loved ones and friends from all over.

    Whether as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, or volunteer, Ann lived her life for others, celebrating their achievements with a spirit of positivity, honesty, loyalty and true joy.

    A breast cancer survivor, Ann will be remembered as a woman of tremendous strength, devotion to her friends and family, and caring support of those in need. Her marriage to and partnership with Jerry was the living embodiment of two becoming one, and the love that Paul wrote about in 1 Corinthians.

    For over 35 years, Ann and Jerry called Marietta, GA home, before retiring to Ann's hometown of Washington, NC. They were faithful members of Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, GA; St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Tucker, GA; and First Presbyterian Church in Washington, NC.

    In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center of Washington, NC; the Susan G. Komen Foundation; or charity of choice.
