Geoffrey McDowell | Eastern NC Now

    Geoffrey McDowell, age 76 a resident of Washington, died Saturday December 7, 2024, at ECU Beaufort Hospital.

    A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Chad Skretvedt officiating.

    Geoffrey was born on October 24, 1948, in Wayne County, to the late Floyd Day McDowell and Estella Eatmon McDowell. He was a 1967 graduate of Washington High School. On December 23, 1967, he married Sharon Anne Lawhead. Geoffrey was a construction foreman, having worked for Daniel International, Fountain Power Boats, Horace Mann, Westin Resort in St. John, USVI, and FlatIron. He enjoyed playing golf, boating, spending time at the beach, Duke basketball, traveling, grilling out and spending time with his family. Most important to Geoffrey was his unwavering 60 years of dedicated service as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

    Survivors include, his wife of 57 years, Sharon McDowell, his children, Renee Dawn McRoy, wife to Billy McRoy, of Washington, Geoffrey Kyle McDowell, husband to Yonica McDowell, of Grimesland and Aaron Shane McDowell, husband to Talyna McDowell, Port Charlotte, Florida, grandchild, Jordan Sharon McDowell, and many spiritual family members.
