Dallas Herbet “Herbie” Simpkins | Eastern NC Now

    Dallas Herbet "Herbie" Simpkins, age 53, a resident of Washington, NC died January 17, 2025 at the home of his parents.

    The family will receive friends at a later date at their home.

    Dallas was born in Greenville, Nc on January 19, 1971, he was the son of Leon and Dorothy Simpkins. He was a 1989 graduate of Washington High School and an 1994 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

    He is survived by his parents, Leon Hooks Simpkins, Sr., and Dorothy Rouse Simpkins of Washington, two daughters, Sydney Brooke Simpkins, Savannah Claire Simpkins both of Winston-Salem, a sister, Jessica Elizabeth Simpkins of Washington, a niece, Alexandra Elizabeth Woolard (Daniel), grand nieces and nephew, Avery, Noah, Addisyn of Blounts Creek and a nephew Austin Thomas Franz of Washington.

    He is preceded in death by his brother, Leon Hooks "Hooky" Simpkins, Jr.

    Dallas has many accomplishments and many names: "Herbie" to those who grew up with him, "Birdie" to his sister who worshipped him, Dallas to his adult friends and acquaintances, "Uncle D" to his nieces and nephews, and Dad. Of all the names he has had over the years, Dad is the one he cherished the most. His greatest accomplishment, he would tell anyone who would listen, is his girls.
