Lawrence "Larry" Berger, Jr., age 76, a resident of Chocowinity, passed away peacefully in his home on February 25, 2025, surrounded by his wife and stepdaughters. He is survived by his 3 brothers, Michael Berger, Jeffrey Berger, and Bruce Berger, his wife Carol Baker, stepdaughters Kristy Baker and Debbie Baker, granddaughter Dezire Trickey, many nieces and nephews and their families.

Larry was born on March 18, 1948 to Alma Berger and Lawrence Berger Sr. in Baltimore, Maryland as the oldest of the 4 brothers. Larry excelled at fixing mechanical devices. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and served in Vietnam as an electrical engineer, repairing various aircrafts. After his service, he had a distinguished career with Westinghouse, traveling across the world, working on critical top secret military installations. He moved on to great success as the Commercial Kitchen Appliance Technician for Erikson Senior Living centers throughout Maryland.

Larry fell in love and married Carol Baker in 2002. They both retired and moved from Maryland to make Chocowinity their home in 2006. In North Carolina, Larry had time to devote to his love of classic cars. He was often recognized driving through Washington and Chocowinity driving his 1965 Plymouth Fury III, black with flames painted down the sides. This was his proudest restoration, working with his friends to remove the back end of the Fury station wagon to resemble an "El Camino", creating a completely original classic car. Larry was active in the community and a proud member of the Beaufort County Disabled American Veteran Chapter #48 in Washington.

Larry will be remembered for his infectious sense of humor, love of dancing, cruising adventures, talent with cars and home repairs, delicious cooking and his devotion to his family and friends.

There will be a small private graveside service in Maryland at a future date.

Online condolences may be offered to the family by visiting www.paulfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, you may feel free to donate to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Mother of Mercy.

Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington is honored to serve the Berger family.
