Janie Bernice Buck Petralia | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Janie Bernice Buck Petralia, age 89, a resident of Chocowinity died in her sleep on Wednesday July 9, 2025, at her home.

    The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday July 12, 2025, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington. A procession will follow to Edwards Cemetery on Possum Track Road for a graveside service officiated by Pastor Kevin Whaley. Pallbearers will be Kodey Cooper, Brady Andrews, Jesse Cooper, Katelyn Cooper, Cassie Cooper, and Robbie Mason.

    Mrs. Janie was born in Beaufort County on October 2, 1935, daughter of the late Henry Madison Buck and the late Olive Elizabeth Boyd Buck. She attended Chocowinity schools. On January 17, 1997, she married Don Daniel Petralia who survives. Her working career consisted of working in the manufacturing field having worked at Stanadyne, National Spinning and Flanders Filters. She loved art, drawing, her pets, and her family.

    Surviving along with her husband of the home are her children: Shirley Lurie Bulock of Winterville, Tammy Brown (Larry) of Clarks Neck, Joanna Mason (Robbie) of Washington, and Rose Petralia (Roger Smith) of Hudson, FL; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. She was predeceased, along with her parents by a grandchild: Jimmy Gurley; and two brothers: Hallett Buck and Stephen Buck.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that donations be made to the flood victims in Texas.
