Elsie Elizabeth Alligood Woolard | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Elsie Elizabeth Alligood Woolard, age 86, a resident of Washington, NC died Sunday September 21, 2025, at her home.

    A private memorial service will be held later.

    Mrs. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on October 1, 1938, daughter of the late Caleb Oliver Alligood and the late Elsie Elizabeth Morgan Alligood. She was a 1956 graduate of Washington High School. On May 11, 1958, she married Lester Lamar Woolard who preceded her in death on April 30, 2012. Her time was spent working in her yard, in her house, and she dearly loved her family and animals. She was a member of a local Washington Garden Club, Our Gang Supper Club, First United Methodist Church, and was active in her circle at her church as long as her health permitted. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

    Survivors include her sons: Les C. Woolard and his wife Alison and Lee L. Woolard and his wife Braun all of Washington; and her grandchildren: Jordan Pike, Will Woolard, Peyton Woolard, and Caleb Woolard. She was preceded in death, along with her parents and husband by a grandson: Noah McQuigg Pike.

    In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, P.O. Box 12829, New Bern, NC 28561 or to Beaufort County Humane Society, P.O. Box 33, Washington, NC 27889.
