It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved David Alonza Clark, Sr., whose memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His journey on this earth touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. After more than 30 years of courageously battling cancer, David has found peace. He leaves behind a legacy of selfless acts and cherished memories, his strong will to live evident throughout the last several months of declining health.

David was born on June 27, 1943, to Alonzo Dumay Clark and Margaret Cayton Clark. He graduated from Chocowinity High School in 1962, where he met the love of his life, Shelia Ann Toler Clark, who survives. They were married on December 22, 1963, and together they lived a wonderful life filled with their family and friends in Washington. They had three children, Kimberly Clark Hiatt (Norman), David Clark, Jr. (who passed away in April 2024) and Anthony Clark, his grandchildren, Chase Hiatt (Jessica) of Washington, Haley Braddy (Joseph) of Washington, Landon Clark and Hollie Clark, Alex Clark (Sarah) of Blounts Creek and Tyler Clark (Kathryn) of Wilmington and 5 precious great grandchildren. David is survived by his brothers, Osborne W. Clark, (Debbie), Thomas G. Clark (Ann), Terry L. Clark (Christi), sister, Linda C Williams and sisters-in-law, Christine Clark, Betty Clark and Debbie Clark. David was predeceased by his brothers, Dumay Clark, Michael Clark and Clifton Clark, and brother-in-law, Eugene "Gene" Williams (Linda).

David and Shelia were longtime, devoted members of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Chocowinity, where their faith and fellowship were an important part of their lives. David grew up surrounded by the love and support of their large family. Throughout his life, he exemplified compassion, hard work, and a deep commitment to helping others with cars as an automotive dealer. His achievements, both personal and professional, were a testament to his determination and gentle spirit.

David passed away on September 22, 2025, following a long fight with cancer. His family was by his side as he transitioned to his next life.

Cherished by family and friends alike, he will be remembered for his warm smile, caring heart, and generosity. His wisdom and knowledge of cars enriched the lives of those around him, and his presence will be deeply missed.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate his life will be Friday, September 26th from 6 to 8 PM at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity or cause close to their heart, so that their spirit of giving and compassion may live on.

    May David rest in peace.
