Governing leftwing Labour Party falls to third place as right surges in UK polls | Eastern NC Now

populist nationalist Reform Party far in front, and Conservative Party second

ENCNow

The latest poll in the UK on voting intentions shows the right is dominant, with the populist nationalist anti-immigration Reform Party led by Brexit hero Nigel Farage still far in front, with the traditional Conservative Party now a clear second.  The governing Labour Party, which was tied with the Conservatives in the last poll, has fallen to be tied with the radical left Green Party for third.

At their recent national Conference, the Conservative Party under small "c" conservative Kemi Badenoch moved farther right on both immigration and climate policy, the two issues that are the core of Reform's message.  Badenoch, who is a legal immigrant herself has led the Conservatives into following Reform's position of instituting mass deportation of illegal aliens and to drop out of the European Court of Human Rights which tries to undermine deportation.   She also led the Conservatives to change their position on Labour's Net Zero CO2 policy from an ambivalent position to one opposed to Net Zero policies.  Reform has been calling Net Zero "net stupid" for years.

The poll puts Reform in the lead with 32%, followed by the Conservatives at 17%, with Labour and the Green Party tied for third at 15%.  The balance of the vote was split between various smaller parties such as the Liberal Democrats, Scottish Nationalists, Welsh Nationalists, and various Northern Ireland parties.  A seat by seat analysis shows that if these numbers are repeated on election day, it would give Reform a historic 218 seat majority over all other parties combined.

In another bombshell poll in Wales for a special election for what was previously a safe Labour seat in the Welsh assembly, Reform is also in the lead, with the Welsh Nationalists second and Labour crashing to just 12%.  This would be the first seat Reform has ever won in Wales elections, and their second seat there overall.  Longtime Conservative Welsh Assembly member Laura Ann Jones switched to Reform earlier this year.

Meanwhile in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt which votes for its landtag (parliament) next year, the populist nationalist anti-immigration Alternativ fur Deutschland has pulled far in front with 40% of the vote, a gain of ten points from the last poll, with the traditional conservative CDU second at 26%. The (far) Left Party is third at 11%, and the center-left Social Democrats and the populist nationalist left BSW each at 6%  No other party would pass the 5% threshold to be awarded seats.
