Edward Carlton Andrews | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Edward Carlton Andrews, age 95, a resident of Grimesland, NC died Monday October 27, 2025, at his home.

    Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced later.

    Mr. Andrews was born in Alamance County on December 1, 1929, son of the late Avery Alford Andrews and the late Callie Andrews. He helped on the farm and later worked at Flander's Filters in Washington. On December 15, 1953, he married the love of his life, the former Retha Lee Smith who preceded him in death on October 16, 2025. They were married for seventy-one years and were apart for only eleven days before he joined her in heaven. They now can enjoy their reward for a life well lived for their Lord and Savior together. Now their favorite place to worship has transferred from Black Jack Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church to heaven. A pastime for him was talking on the CB Radio and many knew him by the call name of "The Ranger". In his younger years he loved hunting, being an outdoorsman, and repairing small engines.

    Survivors include a granddaughter: Deanna Pryor of Williamston; a great granddaughter: Emalee Pryor of Grimesland; brothers: Avery Andrews, Jr. and his wife Mary of Clarks Neck, and Terry Andrews and his wife Terri of Washington; sister: Pat Cutler of Washington; a niece: Diane Hodges and her husband Curtis of Grimesland; and his caregivers: Jen, Judy, Jill, and Crystal. Mr. Andrews was predeceased, along with his parents and wife, by a son: Edward Dean Andrews and several brothers and sisters.
