The Rehabilitation Center at Vidant Medical Center has received the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization by the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.

Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities recognized more than 50 strengths

    Greenville, NC     The Rehabilitation Center at Vidant Medical Center has received the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization by the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. This three-year accreditation decision represents the organization's substantial conformance to the CARF standards

    "The survey team was very complimentary of our rehabilitation services team at Vidant Medical Center," said Todd Hickey, senior vice president. "CARF identified more than 50 strengths with our rehabilitation programs in their report."

    Areas of strengths included clinical knowledge of staff, specialty equipment, advocacy efforts and advancement in research and clinical development initiatives.

    An organization receiving a three-year accreditation has undergone a rigorous peer review process and demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit its commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable, and of the highest quality care for patients.

    The following programs were accredited:

    · Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs- Hospital (Adults)

    · Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs- Hospital (Pediatric Specialty Program)

    · Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs- Hospital: Brain Injury Specialty Program (Adults)

    · Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs- Hospital: Spinal Cord System of Care (Adults)

    · Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs- Hospital: Stroke Specialty Program (Adults)

    · Interdisciplinary Outpatient Medical Rehabilitation Programs: Spinal Cord System of Care (Adults)

    · Comprehensive Vocational Evaluation Services

    "Many of our rehabilitation programs have received CARF accreditation multiple times over the years," said Wanda Bennett, senior administrator of the rehabilitation center. . "This long-term dedication demonstrates to patients and families that Vidant Medical Center is committed to quality care and optimal outcomes for the individuals we have the privilege to serve in our community."
