Two Applicants Compete for a Fixed MRI Scanner in Carteret County | Eastern North Carolina Now

Two applicants have filed certificate of need applications with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to develop a fixed MRI scanner in response to a need determination in the 2024 State Medical Facilities Plan.

    CAPE CARTERET, N.C.     Two applicants have filed certificate of need applications with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to develop a fixed MRI scanner in response to a need determination in the 2024 State Medical Facilities Plan.

    Each applicant proposes one project:

  • Seashore Imaging LLC proposes to acquire one fixed MRI scanner to be located at Seashore Imaging Cedar Point. The project is expected to cost $4 million and would be completed in July 2025.
  • EmergeOrtho, P.A. proposes to acquire one fixed MRI scanner to be located at EmergeOrtho in Morehead City. The project is expected to cost $2.7 million and would be completed in September 2025.

    A public hearing for these projects will be held April 12 at 10:30 a.m. in the annex of the Carteret County Public Library-Western Carteret Branch, 230 Taylor Notion Road in Cape Carteret.

    Anyone may file written comments concerning this proposal. Comments must be received by the Healthcare Planning and Certificate of Need Section no later than 5 p.m. on April 1.

    Comments may be submitted as an attachment to an email if they are sent to DHSR.CON.Comments@dhhs.nc.gov. Comments may also be mailed to the following address:
