End of racial gerrymander in TN likely to elect black Republican in place of white Democrat | Eastern NC Now

what an irony

ENCNow

Racially gerrymandering in Tennessee created a majority black district in the Memphis area, that has now been wiped away by the legislature after the US Supreme Court ruled against racial gerrymandering.  The Democrat who has been representing that district, however, has not been black.  He is a white ultra-liberal named Steve Cohen, Tennessee's only Democrat congresssman.

Now Coben has a Republican-oriented district in which he will have to seek reelection. Ironically, it is the end of that racial gerrymander that will almost certainly give Memphis a black member of Congress.  Republicans are united behind Charlotte Bergmann, a dynamic black Republican woman to take on Cohen.  While she does have two minor primary opponents, Bergmann is regarded as the candidate who will bring Cohen down.

And, conveniently, the MSM propaganda media does not tell this part of the story.
