Governor McCrory met with high-ranking military officials, including the Commandant of the Marines Corps, and congressional leaders in Washington, D.C. today, urging continued support for military personnel and installations in North Carolina.

    Raleigh, NC     Governor McCrory met with high-ranking military officials, including the Commandant of the Marines Corps, and congressional leaders in Washington, D.C. today, urging continued support for military personnel and installations in North Carolina.

    "We had a series of productive meetings at the Pentagon and with our congressional representatives," said Governor Pat McCrory. "It's important that our national leaders know that our administration is dedicated to supporting military personnel and facilities in North Carolina in every way we can."

    The governor was accompanied by retired Marine Corps Major General Cornell Wilson who serves as the governor's military affairs advisor.

    North Carolina has the third-largest military population in the country and six major bases and an ocean terminal. Approximately 100,000 military personnel are stationed in the state and armed forces supports 540,000 jobs in North Carolina.
