Governor Pat McCrory has signed into law House Bill 766. The law amends the exemption for the use or possession of hemp extract and authorizes certain neurologists to use hemp extract to treat intractable epilepsy without participating in a pilot study.

The N.C. House on July 14 gave final approval to House Bill 766, a bill that would allow more people suffering from "intractable epilepsy" to use a hemp extract to treat the disease.

A rare treatment that includes cannabidiol oil from hemp plants to treat drug-resistant epilepsy, which is particularly prevalent in children, will now be available in clinical trials in North Carolina thanks to legislation signed into law today by Governor Pat McCrory.
