Late Friday, June 29, 2012, Governor Beverly Perdue vetoed the 20.2 billion dollar budget proposed by the Republican controlled North Carolina General Assembly, and now that proposal as law becomes more uncertain as both houses of the legislature will search for enough votes to override her veto.

Yesterday Governor Beverly Perdue vetoed SB 9 "An Act to Reform the Racial Justic Act of 2009 to be consistent with the United State Supreme Court Ruling in McClaskey v. Kemp".

I was struck by how many people want to learn such topics but just don't know where to go to be educated or how to trust that they will be taught the right stuff. But one question that came up almost every class period and by every group was this: "Do the states have the right to secede?"

In their July General Meeting, held July 5, 2011, Beaufort County Commissioners voted 5 to 2 in support of not asking our representatives in the General Assembly to override Governor Beverly Perdue's veto of the "Voter Photo ID Bill."

The Beaufort County Board of County Commissioners will meet to discuss a variety of issues in their General Meeting on Tuesday, July 5, 2011. This is the first general meeting post budget, where the county commissioners, by a vote of 5 to 2, raised your property taxes by 6%.
