Commented on A Veteran's Poem for Non VeteransGreat poem Bobby Tony. You really get the the heart of the truth of what so many of us only can barely fathom.
Thank-you for your commitment to that truth my fellow poet.

Commented on Billy the Kid Was Quite A Guy!Glad you brought this one back.
So, the post Civil War governor of New Mexico wrote "Ben Hur". Plus, I agree that Billy the Kid was not a really bad guy; I have always liked Kris Kristofferson. beaufortcountynow.com

Commented on Hate SpreadsIt is kind of sad that I see the humor in some of this, or ... it's kind of healthy that I see the humor in some of this.
At some point, I would suggest that we all lighten up. I've seen far too much crying since last Tuesday. It is just starting to get more and more humorous to me for a very apparent reason. Throwing the hate word around is no substitute for a good laugh at the expense of those that might not have our best interests at heart.

Just wanted to mention to the evolving "Cupcake Nation" that their gnashing of teeth over the outcome of the Electoral College election of Donald J. Trump, fed by Democrat peons like Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer, is a complete waste of time and tooth enamel.
The Electoral College voting process will not be changed in my lifetime, the "Cupcakes" lifetime, or their children's lifetimes. To amend the Constitution to overhaul a popular Article is damn near impossible. If you don't know how the U.S. Constitution works, like Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer, you probably should refrain from comment on this one. Note to "Cupcake Nation": Some of us will laugh at you ... real hard. So ... "Suck it up Buttercups"

The way Leon sang, it was only a time before he blew out his voice.
He hind-of did, but never lost the sould that he kept around its edges holding it up. I have been learning "Song for You", which is not that hard to play on the guitar -AM, E, C, Am/F, F, EM, DM & G, but try singing the song and keeping the soul in it, without hitting that high, screechy EM that Leon does. It's tough. Leon was an Okie with an enigma, that he called life, and he lived it as such, everyday.

Commented on UnFree My CampusThis will be an ongoing discussion, with or without President Trump, a Republican House, a Republican Senate, and a Conservative Judiciary, which is guaranteed for at least 2 years, probably 4, possibly 8, maybe, even maybe 12 more years.
Ideologue Education Industry Elitist will push back, and they will get real stupid, real fast. It will not only get interesting to watch, but ... I would suggest that it might wise for those, without private sector experience Education Industry Ideologues tone it down dramatically. Indoctrinating our youth for sociological sloth, intolerance, and elitist fascism is not a path forward in this new America.

Commented on My experience with a deserter long ago and far away.He sure looked like a fine American man, one I would be proud to know.
It is much of a public to asking to yank boys out of their nubile lives, and into the service of killing other human beings, and expect them to become Viking warriors in a matter of months. The way we staff, and train our military now is by far the best, and really the only way to fight from here on out.

Commented on My experience with a deserter long ago and far away. Thanks Bobby Tony for this post about one of those issues few ever write about - the betwixt and between the good memories of a soldier and the Hell of combat.
In a way, this is what real life is about here back home as well, the recriminations of bad decisions, but this one writ large. We all have them; this one was most consequential. I pray for folks like your buddy, and it is a prayer of total forgiveness.

I remind all of you of the cost to local and state governments to pay for the plethora of services for Illegals. That bill in my county equaled about 6 percent of everyone's property tax bill per annum. These are from my figures a few years back, but, I am fairly close here.

Great post B.T.
I love Stockman has done with the hair. Hell, at this point in my life, I'm impressed with anyone that has hair ... even you. Stockman could be wrong, and he could be right about the collapse; nothing is certain. The one thing that he is right about is the math of a "debt-fueled faux prosperity" is completely on target, and the eventuality of a collapse is very real, probably a 100% real, if we don't not only start doing something about it now, but continue to educate future generations that something must be continued, or we will fail as a nation.

Tonight, November 11, 2016, the mentally challenged living in some of the most liberal cities, with the worst governance in America, i.e. Chicago, are protesting the fair and free election of Donald J. Trump.
Maybe they can start a new movement: "Stupid Lives Matter".

I agree under one condition: We change the 60% to 70%.
It is a lot to think about. And with your new printer, you'll be able to more out of that 30%. If you're really successful, it may cover the cost of ink and paper.

Yeah, let's go both ways, kind of like Naked Shorting, which the corrupt SEC allows for well connected people.
We'll take in money to publish, and to not publish, but I still get 60% right.

Commented on What is a Veteran? It si weird how this happens, but one thing that I am sure of: Posts resonate when there are much information in them.
Having said that, I think I know why BCN may have edged down a little in traffic of late, although we are still doing very well in a relative sense: Search is favoring posts that are tailored more to the Millennial generation, which BCN could never fully do. We reflect a more broad section of knowledge submitted by any, all contributors, and some subjects just are not interesting to this self absorbed generation that yearns to be "Liked". Hopefully, they will grown up at some point.

Commented on Business Social Media and Crowdfunding WorkshopsAll of this Social media promotion, and Word Press as the only CMS, as is promoted by the Beaufort County Community College, is rather disconcerting since: Social Media is proved to waste far too much of people's time, and may also prove to have sociological ramifications that reach far into the realm of the psychosis level for some folks; plus Word Press is proved to be an inferior CMS to some others, including our local Symbiotic Publisher, which powers BCN.
It makes me wonder: Why is a center of higher learning so myopic on these issues, where they are publicly funded to the level that they should know better. As soemone deep within the know of these issues, it leaves me with vey little confidence in this institution in this rather prevalent subject.

Remarkably this post of yours - beaufortcountynow.com - is the 16th highest post in views in the history of BCN, and still climbing. One never knows when they hit the mark. -

Commented on What is a Veteran?Thank-you Bobby Tony for your heart felt sermon of what constitutes a veteran.
I especially would love to here the story of your combat brother who was tried for desertion. I take your word that he was a veteran, irrespective of the outcome of his court martial, and, I'm sure you will concur that he was a patriot as well. My heart goes out for all who can't make the measure, every minute, or every day during the Hell that was the Vietnam War. God bless him, and may God bless you, and all your veteran brothers on your Veterans' Day. You damn well earned it, and I am, and will be forever in your debt.

I did, but not on Friday nights.
I probably had two concussions from football. We led with our helmets in those days on many tackles. It was rough back then. The crack-back blocks were murderous on my knees. The only "God Wink" could be that I started smoking a bunch of pot my Senior Year, and continued down that terrible path, which grew much worse, until I was about 20 years old, and then I made an abrupt turn around, and got a whole lot less stupid real fast. Now, I despise narcotics, and believe that even pot can be inherently evil. Regardless, it can make users incredibly stupid, and measurably so. I don't drink much either, and have never smoked cigarettes. My greatest bad habit is that I refuse to sleep enough. I feel like I might miss out on something, I reckon. If I live long enough, I hope to make God proud. Often, I try really hard.

No face-mast for so many players. When I played 9 years later, I not only had a double horizontal bar, but a vertical bar too.
They gave me the extra vertical bar since I had to double up as middle linebacker on defense. No platooning for about 6 of us on our team. I was on the field on every play except kickoffs (defending) and punts (both defending and receiving).
