Commented on The Board of Commissioners' Clown Car rolls onGene,
The question has been decided by the Liberals. You will get your new jail in the southwest corner of the county, if you can stop the me and my constituents, and I only have a few more months to make any difference. I still can't fathom this whole: We need a new, safe jail, but you, commissioners, need to lower our taxes thing. That is not how math works. If you have friends that actually understand this logic, you might need to pick some smarter friends.

Tell all the people you talk to start paying attention to what happens in their county, stop whining about the politicians that they elected, and get smarter.
This county government is of their making, it is their government, and it is absolutely what they deserve. Most of my constituents know what the fault is in Beaufort County, and it is the fault of the People, and it is the People's government. So my advice: Pay the taxes. Lord knows it is what they well deserve. You got to know that if I have to pay higher property taxes, and my constituents have to pay higher property taxes, I, we, have no sympathy for those that vote for Liberals and RINOs election in and election out. No, these thoughtless whiners, who are the very reason why we are forced to pay more taxes each year, get no sympathy whatsoever.

Commented on The Board of Commissioners' Clown Car rolls onGene,
You've already explained the problem, and it is that I have always been a minority county commissioner. I am responsible for none of this. My constituents are responsible for none of this. There are responsibilities for being a part of a democratic republic, and that is to pay attention, and vote for the right people to serve you. If you vote for Liberals, don't be surprised when they vote in such a way that it raises your taxes. That is the way democratic republics work, and the Beaufort County Commissioners are no different. If you are dissatisfied with the amount of taxes you are paying now, just know this: They are going higher! That is why elections are important.

Commented on The Board of Commissioners' Clown Car rolls onYes Gene, I am a member of the Gang of Three, formerly a member of the Gang of Two. Over the last 18 years, the People of Beaufort County have saw fit to elect majorities of Democrats and Republicans that have moved as majorities to make decisions that have raised your/our taxes, and if the Southwest County Jail comes into fruition, they will raise them again.
There has been little that I and Hood have been able to do to stem that tide, but I now hear that this predicament may all be out fault because we 'doth protest too much' too vociferously. This is mostly a RINO fantasy, but Democrats parrot it as well, so that is fine with me. I will soon only accurately record the events of this county; I will no longer accurately serve my constituents. As one of clarion thought, I see the People of Beaufort County as a majority, who wishes to pay the higher taxes, and soon much higher taxes. This is what they want, this is what they will handsomely get. My only sorrow is that as long as I live here, I, and my more thoughtful constituents, will also pay the higher taxes. Oh well.

At that very same meeting, you asked that the commissioners lower the property taxes by '30% across the board', so: How do you propose that the county's people pay for the Southwest County jail, and the 800,000.00 per year to transport the prisoners from the Industrialized Incarceration Complex on 30% less revenue?

It is probably good that I will soon no longer be a county commissioner. I'm fed up with all the lies and stupidity of others, and as someone who is no longer a public figure, I will tolerate no more of either.

And I agree with most of that; however, I hope you agree that prayer to the one true God should not be restricted from any event that is partially paid for by our tax dollars.
Even Muslims should not have a problem with this, for Allah is supposed to be another moniker for Yaweh, but even if they did ... tough beans. For me the Atheist have no say in such, nor those that hate the Christian faith. It is time to stand up for Christ, and especially his followers, as now they are being so roundly persecuted by belligerents and haters of the free exercise of freedom of religion. This is what our Forefathers had in mind in the first Amendment: To forbid in America what is now happening in Iraq to Christians, and kind, good Muslims, who love the one true God - not the evil one fabricated by the Islamists, the Jihadists.

And then the first Amendment continues: "or continuing the free exercise thereof".
The first amendment is not about restricting religion from our nation, ti is about not sanctioning one religion over another, such as the "Church of England" from Henry VIII's time as the King of England wanted to divorce Catherine of Aragon, but could not because it would not be sanctioned by e Pope Clement IV. Our Forefathers would have none of that as if they were Anglicans or Catholics, and lives being controlled by such. No, the First of Amendment is about: Free Speech, about gathering to hear free speech, especially political speech, a free press to broadcast that free speech, and freedom of religion, rather than freedom from religion. You'll be hard pressed to find a freedom from religion clause in the U.S. Constitution. Try again.

My opinion was offered as a principled man ... never mentioned the word conservative; however, true Conservatives are the most principled politicians I have ever met, or served with, and we are few.
I do appreciate the implication, obviously due to my more clear understanding of Fiduciary over your Attorney General's understanding of it. Not to pick bones, but there is no language about 'the separation of Church and State' in the U.S. Constitution. That I am remarkably clear on.

The North Carolina Constitution states: Marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this State. This section does not prohibit a private party from entering into contracts with another private party; nor does this section prohibit courts from adjudicating the rights of private parties pursuant to such contracts. (2011-409, s. 1)
However, in the NC Constitution, they is very little stipulation as to the duties of the attorney general. There is much stipulation as to the duties of the general assembly, and the governor. The governor is charged with enforcing the laws, and the general assembly not only makes the laws, but has the authority to Impeach elected officials. One thing I do well know about fiduciary relationships is, and attorney's are bound by this, is that if one can not represent those that pay them to perform their duties, it is an imperative that they should resign that job. Roy Cooper is the attorney general for the people of North Carolina, not just Liberals, who like to make up relative truths as they happen upon life's situations. The Defense of Marriage Amendment is the law in North Carolina, whether Liberals, like Roy Cooper, likes it or not. His liberal understanding of North Carolina law as a relative truth does not apply here, as he is hired to administer the North Carolina Constitution and its laws. For those of us with clarion thought Roy Cooper has but one choice: Resign his office. If Roy Cooper will not resign his office, he should be impeached for not executing his duties to recognize and enforce the NC Constitution - not the parts he appreciates, but all of it. This is the way I understand things as someone who has practiced Fiduciary relationships for quite some time.

Again this has nothing to do with the man's color. As you know, the color of a man's skin is one of the three major tenants of the today's Democrat party.

The job of the Attorney General of North Carolina is to be North Carolina's lawyer. That is the primary job description of this elected official.
When that elected official, who is no longer a lawmaker, will not defend that law of the state, we have a problem with the individual in question. Roy Cooper was not elected Attorney General to run for Governor, he was elected to carry out the law of North Carolina. Whether the law is unconstitutional, as per the U.S. Constitution, is inconsequential at this point because that ruling has not yet been rendered. And, I remind you that the Democrats have not done too well lately before the Supreme Court, so ... Currently, this Democrat is living off of North Carolina taxpayer while formulating dreams of a personal brighter political future ... climbing the political ladder at the taxpayer's expense. Maybe Roy Cooper should be removed from his current position, and then he can run for governor full time.

The color of the man's skin has nothing to do with it, in fact, history will prove that the color of his skin is what got him elected.
Only hard-core Liberals believe that the man is honest, or competent, or even smart. He was simply not ready to be president, and those are is the kindest words I can offer.

Commented on White-Washing American HistoryExcellent article 'Young Maye'.
I agree with Winston Churchil: "History is written by the victors." America has won so many wars; it needed to; it will always need to. Our nation was born from war, it corrected itself by war, and it helped save the entire world by war. War is awful, but it is the tool that controls evil and expands nations as it did ours. Our United States of America has sponsored the continuance of slavery, genocide and unfair trade practices; however, all great nations have, and that does not make it any less wrong. On the upside, we have done bad far less than most, and we have helped the world far more than most. We were once a great nation of mostly good people, and it is still not too late to regain that status. We should not white-wash history, but, moreover, we should never forget the great good we have done as well.

Gene, you seem to forget that The Candidate had 2 years where he had an overwhelming majority in both houses of congress, and now Harry Reid's Senate, where all legislation goes to die.
Democrats whine about congress, but with a Harry Reid, mindlessly running a legislative body, which was once revered, not much will get done. Harry Reid needs to go 'back to his pomegranate trees', and leave the senate to those that can actually form cognitive thoughts as patriots, not as venomous old hags. Have you ever asked yourself: How could Kay Hagan ever vote for such a mimbo to be Senate Majority Leader?

Commented on Dave Wilborn SmithDave Smith was my first real coach in football, basketball and even track and field.
Before Dave Smith went to WHS to lead the Pam pack to two State Championships, he was the head coach of all sports at P.S. Jones Junior High in 1968, nd for some years later. It was the first year of full integration, and my first year at the former P.S. Jones all Black segregated high school. He was an accomplished coach there. In that first year of full integration of White and Black children, Coach Smith was my coach in football and basketball at the new junior high, and even then, as a 14 year old adolescent, I well understood that this was a man I should respect. Coach Smith was always fair, and as a coach well recognized talent and coached that talent to the best of their respective abilities. Even though I'm sure I was immature at that point in my life: Coach helped me to learn that teams work together, and remaining tough in the fog of athletic battle was as important as scoring the winning touchdown, or making the winning basket. Maybe because Coach Smith so well communicated what was expected of me, he allowed me to remain on the field, on the court, and in my sprint lane on a very regular basis, and I knew what was expected of me - total commitment. Decades after I played for this local legend as a coach, and after all his success as one of the greatest North Carolina basketball coaches in the twentieth century, Coach would always take the time to talk with me when we saw each other in public. I could tell that he was proud to know me as an adult, but what he was proud to know was a little piece of himself ... maybe a large piece of himself, because the man made a difference in my life, and as I grow aged and know real stuff, I well know that the man made a difference in my life. I just wonder how many others he affected so much: like my experience, or their own, but in a profound and meaning-full way. I have to wonder: How many other adults, that he influenced as they grew into maturation, was he proud to know as an adult. My guess ... many. Read More: beaufortcountynow.com

Christoper makes good sense about how the internet is used rather than the way many of us wish it would be used; but freedom dictates willful determination of our time for good or for pure mediocrity.
I also hear that next year may be the last year of Common Core in North Carolina. There are rumblings that the NC general assembly is striking down Common Core and handing it, unceremoniously, back to the Feds from whence it came.

Well Ted, you may have a point; however, I am an optimist, and being an optimist, I feel at some point a majority of the people will no longer be predominately some form of stupid.
At this time, in my 59.45 years of age, American's, by far, are the stupidest they have been. And remarkably, the younger they are, the greater propensity for stupid. Ironically, I blame it on the smart phone. That is why BCN reflects all views, and hopefully, we can do our best to elevate the level of discussion, and 'pop culture' is definitely 'not where it is at'. I was in New Orleans for 5 days last weekend, and what music did the hotel play? Techno Pop. Now, I have finally found a form of music more disgusting, and stupid, than HipHop and Rap. Decades before, it was Disco. Now Disco is almost like art comparatively speaking. is that what pop culture has contributed: Rap, HipHop, and now Techno Pop? The stupidity of pop culture may work for Candidate Obama now, but it will not save him from the strict dictates of history, or maybe even from impeachment. If Obama was a Republican, he would already be out of office. Every real Republican knows this one truth. Watters' World is the best part of O'Reilly's show. I enjoy laughing at stupid, and Watters definitely knows where to find it. Think about it: Some group of people had to be stupid enough to put this jackass in office.

Can Beaufort County get part of their money back if the funding can not be put into place? Will local political consultants, the Washington Strategic Group - Greg Dority, Ashley Woolard, Bill Tarpening - still tacitly support the funding of that project, and continue to oppose all who worked to defeat the project?
