The Russians hacked the DNC servers. Could be fake news, see link below.

Here is additional context for the Russian hack issue from a guy who knows computers.

Thanks, I had to do some editing to remove most of the personal references and still the article is perhaps a bit too long and self serving. I just uploaded a public version of the slide show that I had on my Private YouTube channel. Below is the link to that short video (1:45) for any that are interested.

I have a fairly long article about our family musical history that I may try to dust off and condense with the collage. As you might suspect, my Grandpa Diaries are much more emotional and personal than the edited versions I post on BCN.

My brother inherited most of our musical instruments as he is the musician in the family. I still have the a Yahama and a new tenor guitar I just bought. Oh boy how I wish I had kept the Martin and Gibson that I once had, but alas wine women overtook song during my younger day. Jim still has most of them packed away along with the xylophone my dad had. Here is a sample of some of the family instruments. I have been most fortunate most of the time and downright stupid at others. My current inventory is bottom two right.Since Jim nor I have any aspiring musicians in the lineage, I suspect someone will get lucky at the garage sale. Click to enlarge

I agree, but there is no way I would attempt to cut a hole in one of those. It is a testament that both Willie and Trigger grew old together. Now that is a love story.

It helps that it started out as a C.F Martin. I had started a post about the Martin Factory in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, but decided it was a bit too esoteric for the general audience. If, however, anyone is interesting in true craftsmanship the top of the line product is still made in America. Here is the link to a 1 ½ hour tour of the factory. Naturally, they make some Guitars in Mexico with laminate for those of us who cannot do justice to a work of art with our meager hands.

You are right about Jimmy Buffett. I think I saw him at the Great Southeastern Music Hall before he became a hit. He managed to take two drinking songs and morph them into a very lucrative business. Having read his autobiography, I don't think he ever took himself too seriously as a musician. He was and is a great businessman. That is not normal for a musician. Another is Robbie Robinson who is great at both. Here is my post on GSEMH 500 seat venue in Atlanta in 70's. Sorry but did you notice how I had to get a plug in for my article ONLY ON BCN.

I am in 100% agreement.

Here is my question. Is professionalism the result of a competent live performance or it a mimic of an artificial creation of a studio performance with creative mixing, multiple takes, and finally a digitally enhanced FAKE PERFORMANCE. I much preferred the actual live performance of a small venue and a stage with live performers. Even concert performances are mostly live with ample help from technology. In early TV I could see the need for Lip Sync as the music was usually created with studio musicians that were not available for American Bandstand etc. But for a National New Years Eve show, give me a break.

So in the final analysis, professionalism is in the quality of the performance and not the technology itself. Do you think I may be going just a bit overboard on this?

Very informative, it points up one of the flaws of our system. What do you do when all the elected leaders chose to ignore the Constitution? Getting the voters to all agree is almost like herding cats. Such are the dangers of self government delegation but I still think it beats other alternatives.

Sabe,
Keep up the writing process even if you don't feel the quality meets your standards for publishing. You are gifted in the imagination arena to create a completely fictitious scenario that often comes a bit too close to the reality.

Writing is an end unto itself and does not a require a destination at the start. Most professional writers are dissatisfied with their work upon review of it at a later time.

I find writing a pleasurable journey through my own mind and if others find it of interest that is okay. I came late to the enjoyment of it but you have a lifetime ahead of you to wander through the process. Enjoy it.

At the risk of really being a snob, I have found that most musicians are perfectionist. The capo is designed with interchangeable inserts to match the fret radius of various guitars and the wooden picks come in a variety of thickness and size to match the type of music being played. I would be satisfied if I could just master the first song I ever learned on the guitar. A perfectionist I am not, that is for sure.

1958- Now it is 58 years later and I am still practicing it.

Like the Gone with the Wind admonition "Why, land is the only thing in the world worth workin' for, worth fightin' for, worth dyin' for, because it's the only thing that lasts." There is comfort in being able to walk the same territory you did as a child and let the reminiscences fill your body once again. Fortunately there are a few of those places still in Atlanta for me but they may be in the way of our ever expanding destruction of the past.

These are some great pictures.

I have a twitter account but have only tweeted once to test it out. I use it to follow various people. Contrary to popular opinion, I don't really have a compulsion to post every thought (except here on BCN). Besides I could never get my point across in 140 characters. This comment alone is over 284 characters not counting spaces which makes it 384 with spaces to this point. What a waste of space to limit me to 140 characters. I agree with Stan, the clock is still running on the Pardon, but I don't know if Clinton will be on the list. Perhaps this is time for payback from Obama for the Bill Clinton remarks "A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags." For those counting that is 591 characters and 729 total spaces.

Did I ever tell you about the time I.......

Your point is well made. I have a different criteria for my judgement as well as my terminology once they leave office.

To paraphrase a well know term about Character. The period between Nov 8 and Jan 20 is when the true character of any President is revealed. I call this the FREE PASS. I always go back and review those last two months or so of each president to see if my judgement of them was correct. They are not accountable to anyone other than their own conscience. That is when the pardons, executive orders and other actions reveal their true beliefs. The United Nations resolution is an example of the FREE PASS regardless of ones opinion on the subject.

Not all these pardons occurred in the FREE PASS PERIOD, they occurred over the term of each President. No doubt many of these were proper and compassionate, so I would not draw conclusions from my summary without research. Source Wikipedia

Richard Nixon - Republican President Richard Nixon pardoned, commuted or rescinded the convictions of 926 people during his term.
Gerald Ford - Republican President Gerald Ford pardoned, commuted, or rescinded the convictions of 409 people during his term.
Jimmy Carter- Democratic President Jimmy Carter pardoned, commuted or rescinded the convictions of 566 people during his term.
Ronald Reagan - Republican President Ronald Reagan pardoned, commuted or rescinded the convictions of 406 people during his term.
George H. W. Bush - Republican President George H. W. Bush pardoned, commuted or rescinded the convictions of 77 people during his term.
Bill Clinton- Democratic President William J. Clinton pardoned, commuted or rescinded the convictions of 459 people during his term.
George W. Bush- Republican President George W. Bush pardoned, commuted or rescinded the convictions of 200 people during his term.
Barack Obama- Democratic President Barack Obama has pardoned or commuted the convictions of 1,324 people during his term of office, as of December 2016STILL PENDING

Its been a little over a year since your post on Romeo and Juliet. I have the guitar tabs, I have learned the open G chords, and I try to play that song about twice a month. You are so right about lack of covers. Hell, I can't even keep up when trying to accompany with Mark's YouTube version. He makes it look so simple, but it ain't. I have bookmarked the London concert for late viewing, after one more try at R&J. When am I going to realize it was just that the time was wrong? Here is the link to R&J post.

What is interesting about the Christmas story is in 1983 I was 38 years old and the movie was Nostalgic for me then. Now I'm 71 and it's double nostalgic. Peter Billingsley by the way is 45 years old now and probably looks back on that movie as nostalgic? I no like longer want a Red Ryder BB Gun, but Little Beaver (aka Tony Baretta) sounds interesting. Look it up its not an off-color reference.

As most of my post prove, living in the nostalgic past is fun, with the possible exception of these last eight years.

Here is a short update: In the process of reviewing my Vietnam pictures and documenting them with names and memories, I came across this earlier picture from early 1968. I think this a picture of "G" earlier in his tour. This was in a village during a MEDCAP. It may illustrate my point that at some point "He performed his duties as an infantry soldier," as I have written above. He is on the right. I am still researching the GI on the left.

This update has been added to my personal Vietnam Dairy and I felt it should be updated here for clarification.

In a separate news item, the FBI applied the 'HILLARY CLAUSE' to the latest discussion about the Russian hacking.

"The disagreement between some Republicans and Democrats on Russia's INTENTIONS (caps added by me) in hacking the election rests partially on the lack of agreement between intelligence agencies and the FBI about the conclusiveness of the evidence, officials explained this weekend."

Click below to see how 'NOT' to hold a RATIONAL discussion about this subject on CNN. The article is based on LEAKED information so you will have to be careful about the FAKE NEWS aspect of this whole mess.
