Concerned Taxpayer: I agree. To throw 53,000,000.00 at one unneeded school is unconscionable. I am sure that money would have been around later when we really needed it.

When it is time for those necessary improvements to occur, I predict there will be NO "gambl'n' money."

Gary: The essential key to making that whole "property tax limitation" work is locating and cutting "waste, fraud and abuse" here in Beaufort County. The public schools are making terrible decisions, which are costing way too much money to educate children in an environment where they are losing students, ergo, "waste, fraud and abuse."

This is a time when management is most important, because when one governs as a body politic of the State of North Carolina, as is the county commissioners, it eventually comes down to the math and the management, accordingly, this necessary tandem is failing on the school board, and with the Center Left Coalition - those who swap votes to share power - it often unrealized on the Board of Beaufort County Commissioners.

Steve: I was under the impression The Snowden Meeting would be a public hearing.

In my nearly 7 full terms as a Beaufort County Commissioner, I have never witnessed a public meeting conducted in such a manner.

Also, of all the seven county commissioners, only those individual commissioners who are known as the Conservatives spoke to the public; not one of the four members of the Center Left Coalition, those who swap votes to share power here in Beaufort County, expressed their opinions, their promises of support one way or the other.

This is all very telling.

As Beaufort County's other long "term" serving Conservative county commissioner, I am most happy count Hodd Richardson as not only my friend, but an inspiration as he is Beaufort County's hardest working county commissioner, and that includes myself, as I never allow hubris to get the better of me.

My hope for Hood, and us all here in Beaufort County, is that the venerable Commissioner shall enjoy a long and healthy life, and that we, Conservatives, keep Hood Richardson serving our best interests on the Beaufort County Board of Commissioners.

Buzz, the purpose of the Local GOP is to vet candidates, and then support the ones that are worthy.

It is not civic club. The Beaufort County GOP's exclusive mandate is to elect real Republicans as per the dictates of the Republican Party Platform of Ideals.

I know you see it that way too, or you would not have done all that you have done over these many decades to elect the real Republicans in our midst that truly need real help.

A few years back, I had an important issue with school board members, which has turned out to be yet another miscue in the management of Beaufort County Schools, so I called all of the school board members.

Incredibly, less than a third of all school board members called me back, and as I dug deeper into this sorry piece of business, none of the current school board members, except T.W Allen (to his credit) called me back.

Now, to put a finer point on this matter: Not only am I a large and steady taxpayer here in Beaufort County, I was at that time a 6 term county commissioner, and since I was, at that time embroiled in yet another primary, and then a general election for my seventh term as a county commissioner as a Conservative Republican, I still could not muster a call back any of these faux public servants, accepting T.W. Allen.

Now to put an even grander point on my self-supposed gravitas, I am significantly senior to all school board members in offices held, and senior as all of these so-called Republicans, plus, from a categorical position, somewhat senior in intellectual acuity when it comes to all knowledge in all matters regarding proven governing prowess ... and yet, still neary a call back from any of these junior grade politicians relative to what comprises the whole of Stan Deatherage.

It was at that point, I lost any and all confidence in the political and governing abilities of these school board members ever getting anything right. In NO way do I consider any those Knockoff Republicans a peer, and therefore questionable in any manner of their effectiveness in dealing with the People's business.

In current times here in Beaufort County, there are four new Republican school board members, and I do expect, and will command a more reasonable level of respect from them, and, likewise, they will therefore be treated accordingly with that same respect their office commands.

Washingtonian: Now that I think about it, I have made probably 4 to 6 official (publicly requested) public records requests in public meetings filmed, as I have already mentioned many times; and did motion in the last commissioners' meeting as an official request by the Beaufort County Commission; however, it lost to the Center-Left Coalition's desire to limit transparency.

I plan to make more requests in public session as an elected representative; that is my job.

People or the press can make public records requests, while I continue to do what I am elected to do. You, yourself, could do such as well as citizen with impeccable standing.

What I do in open session is what I know to do to govern, because government is best done in public, which shows to all a preponderance to discover the truth or to not discover the truth.

In short, I am NOT the problem here.

My good Conservative friend, Charles Hickman, is one of my most cherished foxhole buddies, as we both navigate the strange local politics of Beaufort County.

For some unremarkable purpose of incredible opportunity, RINOs, the most committed Beaufort County kind, have gained a significant foothold in local politics, with their pseudo governing style of bipartisan idiocracy.

These RINOs, long supported and celebrated by the Beaufort County GOP, are why your taxes will rise here in Beaufort County in this fiscal taxing season, and they are also responsible as to why your children's education in our public schools is foundering, and in great jeopardy.

Since I possess a logical mind, I would proffer that supplanting a local man, Charles Hickman, born and raised on the south side of the Pamlico River; of high integrity, with a great understanding of the wise projected prudence of a natural elected official, is unwise at this time. When good men and women of Conservative values are abundantly needed, and yet, there are so many Republican interlopers lacking the capacity for local leadership in the political class, we must have good men of high merit like my good friend, Charles Hickman.

I will support Beaufort County School Board member Charles Hickman with great vigor, and abject sincerity just as long as I keep the Conservative responsibility of high purpose to do so; including, and up until the last moment, I draw the good breath to offer my significant strength to do so

I actually did it as a motion at the last commissioners' meeting, and this issue of transparency faile 3 to 4, with the Conservatives losing to the Center-Left Coalition.

I will continue to ask for the Title Search from BCS is open meeting, but at some point: Someone from the public may need to file a freedom of information act request. That usually works ... eventually.

My continual requesting said Title Search in open session, while videographed, is my favored avenue to proceed.
