I am confused, Are you telling me that I don't have to spend all that time trying to code and correct my post and then print out and manually edit?
All I have to do is just jot it down and send it to the publisher and he will handle all the grunt work. One of our divisions sold AutoCAD Templates that allowed engineers to insert scaled drawings into their plans and we had good results with an ad campaign designed around "Dodge Eliminates the Grunt Work".
We were not affiliated with the auto company.

Ted McD posted some comments on his personal office page, which he has wisely decided to close to other commenters, about the information available regarding Walmart's practices. The subject is worthy of a separate post and I may broach the subject at some point. Let me restate my position on this: My efforts are to try to force the conversation toward dealing in facts rather than wild accusations. The post clearly indicates that the problem is a system that allows individuals and corporations to take actions that are their best interest. My libertarian leanings tell me that the SYSTEM at fault as well as the participants.
Here is the link to his page, see the comments below the post. Good point Ted and clever not to actually get in the middle of the debate.

GS, I was not aware I altered you statement, I thought I was just putting in into a factual context. You asked to see the IRS books and I complied with your request. It's the adjectives that lead us astray of the facts.

GS, Just some advice, refrain from making blanket statements that can be disproved with about three mouse clicks.
Most people keep two sets of books as well, even if they do not realize it. The two methods of accounting are Cash Accounting and Accrual Accounting.
When you go out to eat and pay cash you are On the Cash method. If you charge the meal you are on the Accrual method. If you do both in the same month, you are keeping two sets of books. The cash you spent and the Liability you incurred to be paid for later.
Companies are no different
One set of books is for the financial statements that are prepared according to GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles). The other set is the books they keep to pay their taxes to the IRS. The net result is the same after all is said and done and Depreciated assets are disposed of.
The government, it turns out, does not much care for “generally accepted” and is often only concerned with what actually happened. It usually does not want to hear about “estimates.” GAAP, on the other hand, actually requires management to make estimates of both revenues and expenses all the time.
Here is the extract of the audited financials.
Since I know you are too busy to read the whole 68-page report, I direct you to page 41. For 2015 the federal taxes paid is $8,169,000,000. In addition, you may note the two previous years. That is actual money spent. Their effective tax rate is 32.2%.(page 55).

Beaufort County Community College offers an Accounting Fundamentals course for $70. I would offer to pay for your tuition for this one course, but I no longer have confidence that you would learn anything.
The picture may not be too clear but the data is correct

"It is almost as good a the Walmart way of not paying a penny in Federal Taxes and hiding their assets and profits from the IRS and Stockholders with their Luxembourg Shell Corps formed in the last 2 years! Gene Scarborough"

From YAHOO FINANCE Walmart Income Statement
Numbers in thousands
Walmart paid $7,985,000,000 in Federal taxes in 2015
That is Billion not Million
They also took advantage of legal loopholes, so let us just be honest in our hyperbole.

Stan,
I was imprecise in my comment, I guess. Opposed is probably not the correct word, my own angst was for those who would be sent there and the suffering that I suspected they would endure and not an evaluation of the facts or political motives fostered it. I have been working on my "Grandpa Diaries" about my RVN experience and was probably overly provoked by one of the asinine comments.
Interestingly enough, I think Vietnam was a noble war for noble reasons, which was poorly executed by micro management of politicians. The massacre of those left behind is proof enough for me in addition to the many Vietnamese I have met here who have thanked me when they found out I was there. It was not my war but America's war, which I was privileged to participate in. One of the few things that angers me now is the revisionist theories about our greed and plunder of the country for financial gain.
I have broken my own advice about commenting on post, so I will leave it as it is. I trust that the readers of BCN are astute enough to separate fact from fiction even if some of us posters and commenters can't.

Stan,
I agree there were WMD at one time and possible transported to Syria. I suspect many are still in Iraq but have seen no proof (I admit, I have not actively researched the subject recently). My opposition to the war was more personal as a former combat veteran and not a political analysis, but I had no better alternative and was willing to trust the judgement of most of the free world intelligence agencies.
One of the things that got Patton in trouble was his use of former NAZI to manage the infrastructure and he was relieved of command. We left a vacuum in Iraq and subsequently in the whole region which allowed the festering of the current terrorists.
Regarding the lie of "NO WMD", there has been enough misinformation that some low information "Internet trolls" will continue to repeat the phrase ad nauseam.

Strike three, back to the dugout, you're out.

Osama bin Laden
en.wikipedia.org
"There is no universally accepted standard for transliterating Arabic words and Arabic names into English;[17] however, bin Laden's name is most frequently rendered "Osama bin Laden". The FBI and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), as well as other U.S. governmental agencies, have used either "Usama bin Laden" or "Usama bin Ladin". Less common renderings include "Ussamah bin Ladin" and, in the French-language media, "Oussama ben Laden". Other spellings include "Binladen" or, as used by his family in the West, "Binladin". The decapitalization of bin is based on the convention of leaving short prepositions, articles, and patronymics uncapitalized in surnames; the nasab bin means "son of". The spellings with o and e come from a Persian-influenced pronunciation also used in Afghanistan, where bin Laden spent many years.
Osama bin Laden's full name, Osama bin Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden, means "Osama, son of Mohammed, son of Awad, son of Laden". "Mohammed" refers to bin Laden's father Mohammed bin Laden; "Awad" refers to his grandfather, Awad bin Aboud bin Laden, a Kindite Hadhrami tribesman; "Laden" refers not to bin Laden's great-grandfather, who was named Aboud, but to a more distant ancestor.
The Arabic linguistic convention would be to refer to him as "Osama" or "Osama bin Laden", not "bin Laden" alone, as "bin Laden" is a patronymic, not a surname in the Western manner. According to bin Laden's son Omar bin Laden, the family's hereditary surname is "al-Qahtani" (Arabic: القحطاني‎, āl-Qaḥṭānī, but bin Laden's father Mohammed bin Laden never officially registered the name.[18]
Osama bin Laden had also assumed the kunyah "Abū 'Abdāllāh" ("father of Abdallah"). His admirers have referred to him by several nicknames, including the "Prince" or "Emir" (الأمير, al-Amīr), the "Sheik" (الشيخ, aš-Šaykh), the "Jihadist Sheik" or "Sheik al-Mujahid" (شيخ المجاهد, Šaykh al-Mujāhid), "Hajj" (حج, Ḥajj), and the "Director".[19] The word usāmah (أسامة means "lion",[20] earning him the nicknames "Lion" and "Lion Sheik".[21]"

The Facts:

Records show that there was no shoot-down order in effect for Flight 93 because of garbled communications between agencies. When the plane crashed, the defense command was still unaware it had been hijacked.

no stand down order??

Bush did not Lie
No less than Bob Woodward has explained this. He spent 18 months researching the Iraq war. Bush did not lie. I was not in favor of the war but once it congress approved the action and the decision was made, I felt it only correct to support the decision and certainly the troops. It was not a lie but an assessment by almost every intelligence community in the modern world believed to be true. We did not go to Iraq for the Oil. If we did we would still be there sucking it out of the ground without payment to repay for our monetary cost of getting rid of Saddam Hussein who did use WMD on his populace.

Ulysses Everett McGill: I thought you said you was innocent of those charges?

Delmar O'Donnell: Well I was lyin'. And the preacher says that that sin's been warshed away too. Neither God nor man's got nothin' on me now. C'mon in boys, the water is fine.

If I eliminate the goal and the results, I would say that President Obama is in the lead. But Wilson, FDR, John Adams, "W Bush", Truman, Johnson and others had their moments.
If I Include the goal there is no doubt in my mind that President Obama is clearly the leader in attempts to destroy (fundamentally change) our system.
We may need Diane to weigh in on the legal specifics.
