I just noticed in my recent quarter hour check that my last post is up to 29 hits. I am sure glad that I do not need those hits to survive. But it is nice to know that I am not wasting ink and paper on my trivial post. On the other hand, the electricity needed to provide the bandwidth and storage of my post may actually offset the cost of a few sheets of paper and ink. I need to research that.

Gene, I know how it feels. It's hard sometimes to be the only one trying to save the world. I just want you to know, even though we may disagree about how to do it. Is still just you and me against the world..

Stan, I spent too many years as a tinkerer and it is a habit I can't drop. But one of the last things I want to do is detract from the importance of this very serious subject about making a treaty with a country that openly expresses it's wish to destroy us and Israel.

Gene,
I like your technique of blasting the readers and then asking them to please read your post. That is a most unique sales technique.
If you will step back from your need for attention for just a moment and review the format of BCN you will see the following.
There are 3 or 4 Features articles rotating at the top.
There are 18 Latest Articles in the body of the page.
There are approximately 3 post under each heading
Government 3 post normally
Op-Ed Politics 3 post normally
Community 8 post normally
Business 3 post normally
The Region 3 post normally
The Arts 3 post normally
Living, 3 post normally

These generally rotate on a regular basis.
Your obsession with positioning may be getting in the way of the impotence of you post. Notice I said impotence and not importance. I doubt that there is a sinister plot to keep your opinions hidden. Without any basis of fact, I suspect you are getting numerous views way beyond what the fluff post get.
However, in the interest of "FAIRNESS" I think it can be said that Liberals always seem to find a way to complain about arrangement of the deck chairs of theirs is not front and center.

Stan, I tend to agree with you regarding the moderators in general and Megyn in particular. Most of the questions were designed to point up the weakness of each candidate and allow them to respond to what is the certain to be the mainstream liberal media's mantra. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Fox did not try to sugar coat questions or coddle the candidates. Much of the criticism is coming from the conservative community. The liberal knock on "Faux News" is highlighted by their need to resort to time worn phrases and terms like Clown Act and White Hate instead of substantive debate on the issues.
As for our Mr Trump, I think he is providing a valuable service. Just like the Barker at the Carney who provides the Ballyhoo to attract a crowd for the big show, he has brought more people to the show than any of the candidates could have done on their own. Once the show has started, the Barker must retreat to his trailer or tower as the case may be. The problem with Trump is he does not know if he is the Barker or the sideshow but I suspect he will be gone before the serious fish or cut bait starts. The Donald is nothing more than an opportunist with an oversized ego, but he does provide some comic relief and I know a few things about being a clown. Their job is to distract the crowd while the next act is being set up.

At least two major democrats have already came out against the agreement. I suspect you can dismiss one because he is Jewish.

Jim Webb just announced he is running for POTUS, but he does not fit into the neatly Liberal Democratic straight jacket, so he too can be dismissed.

I think Hillary is already done and I think that the POTUS is adding oxygen to the fire behind the scenes. Gene thinks I am making this overblown but there is not love lost between the Clinton and Obama camps. She is on the way to self imploding but a few nudges from the President could do it. If for no other reason, he owes a big debt of loyalty to Joe Biden.

Stan, what if I drove through the neighbor hood and surfed the Wifi at each house and voted? I don't think any of the routers are secured because that would require memorizing a password and I know for a fact that would never fly in this retirement community. Everyone has to wear their ID card at the club house. They say it is to keep strangers out but each day I've noticed a whole bunch of new people there. I think they are sharing name tags or at best they use them to remember who they are.

I just left the local library but before I left, I went down the row of computers set up for patrons and voted on the poll on each terminal, the results should post soon. 20 hits for my side. Hey if a Gene can vote for JFK at 14 years old, I should be able to use the Chicago vote now and vote often technique.

Just kidding, but on the writers poll, instead suggest you post 3 answers and let Gene vote on the questions, you'll get more hits than you could possible imagine.

Christopher,
You are broaching a subject (Vaccination) that took a life of its own based on faulty research. The video link to Ted and Steve Silberman is illustrative of how things can quickly get out of hand when people with partial facts, half-truths and outright agendas take up a cause. Unfortunately, in our current technology era, anyone with a keyboard and access can spread untold tales without facts. You are right to check and re-check. As you age, you will begin to form hard opinions based on facts. It is critical to revisit the facts every so often to be sure they are still facts. Nothing in Science is incontrovertible. Everything is subject to addition research and knowledge. . The human brain is somewhat hardwired to group things into neat categories for the purpose of self-protection.
Good post and forget about the branding by others, any time spent trying to change their mind is time that could be spent on expanding your own understanding.

While they are trying to get past this caution flag, I would insert something here, but I have been accused of Plagiarizing and it really hurt my feelings. The last IQ test I took gave me an I-jklmnop-Q grade. Just barely enough to qualify for GSU but no where near the Emory standard.

GS I must confess, I have not read your post, I just waited for the comments to start and thought I would debate from them. But, I am sure it is interesting.

Stan, Emory is a great institution. It took a born and bred Southern a Baptist and turned him in to a Methodist and Liberal and did it all without him realizing it.

Gotta go NASCAR is starting and it is almost as predictable as this debate except after a bunch of left turns, it comes to a conclusion.

Tmac- as you know from our email exchanges, it's not hard to guess what the Rev response will be so you might as well go ahead and compose the counter point when you make a comment. It saves time. I'll bet you a dime GS does not follow the links either. Thus accusing me of Plagiarism when there are “” and reference links. Maybe I should use my counting link in the future.

GS Do how do I get the secret decoder ring to interpret your “unique characteristics”?
Why study both sides when you always come down on the same side?
Commented: Sunday, August 2nd, 2015 @ 1:36 pm By: Bobby Tony
GS --- All direct quotes are shown with link quote "" marks or referenced in the comment. It called citation at GSU. I don't know if they used that at Emory, doesn't look like it. Does the Emory way include actually answering questions.
A sales talk is better know as a visit, a sales presentation is geared to reaching a conclusion ( ie. Order) unlike a debate with you.

By the way do you get extra points using that " =" thing over and over Again?
Commented: Sunday, August 2nd, 2015 @ 1:00 pm By: Bobby Tony
Possibly true Stan, but I did not want to alter the quote. It was expanded somewhat in the rest of the article. Perhaps one of the solutions is to return to the limited role of the Federal Government in all things except those specifically granted to it. In this age of mobility, Almost anyone can find a place for their group. I suggest liberals move to California just on the other side of the fault line but it is already full of them. I'm just saying.
Commented: Sunday, August 2nd, 2015 @ 9:25 am By: Bobby Tony
Gene, if you have not caught on yet, I just clip your comments and post from time to time. Then I look up references that refute your points. I learned the hard way that during sales presentations you must always anticipate and have a planned answer for objections. It is almost like talking points for most politicians.
The rebuttals are then saved in a word document and can be opened and copied and pasted into the comment section. That way I do not have to think about the debate. I do not know what I would do if you came up with a new debate question or subject but it would be interesting. It is all in good fun and sometimes the written word implies anger and harshness. I am too old to take most of this stuff seriously in a written forum.
If we were to follow your advice “To agree to Disagree” there would be no need for either of us to post or comment on things and that would leave me with several hours to fill in the day.
Commented: Sunday, August 2nd, 2015 @ 8:52 am By: Bobby Tony
Yes or at least use correct quotes when referring to "C&S"
It is so much easier to copy and paste facts than endless debate so here goes:
“For tax purposes, the Moral Majority established several different organizations. The tax-exempt Moral Majority Foundation was set up as an educational group focusing on voter registration; the Moral Majority Political Action Committee was the branch that raised money for candidates; the Moral Majority Inc. was the lobbying group for influencing legislation at all levels; and the Moral Majority Legal Defense Foundation was set up to counter the influence of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). (8,14) Although the national Moral Majority (headed by Falwell) was very visible and outspoken, it had a very loose and uncoordinated structure. It functioned primarily as an extensive mailing list of individuals and groups that shared similar fears and hostilities about the changes in our society.”

The first paragraph of my comment is not mine but a quote from the link below. Due to the one URL per comment rule I chose the Cornell link. I realize that constant factual references is tedious and boring but precision in debate is critical to prevent overly broad generalizations. I am just as guilty as anyone of forgetting that sometimes.

I agree Stan, on the principal as well but believe the government should not encourage or discourage practice or not practice. I think the idea of not allowing the expression of faith by individuals on government property or meetings is similar to swallowing an elephant but choking on a gnat.

Everyone with even a modicum of understanding of the Constitution knows, the term “separation of church and state” appears nowhere in the Constitution. The metaphor of a “wall of separation” comes from a letter President Thomas Jefferson penned to a group of Baptists in Danbury, Connecticut—a dozen years after the Constitution and Bill of Rights were ratified. The phrase is not mentioned in the Constitution’s text or in any of the debates leading to its ratification.

The complete wording is:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The First Amendment's Establishment Clause prohibits the government from making any law “respecting an establishment of religion.” This clause not only forbids the government from establishing an official religion, but also prohibits government actions that unduly favor one religion over another. It also prohibits the government from unduly preferring religion over non-religion, or non-religion over religion.

I was being somewhat facetious in my ineloquent reference to Tom’s article. I am all in favor of spirited debate even to the point of name-calling when you determine that the participants have ventured beyond reasoned and fact based opinions and into realm of untenable beliefs.
To call someone ignorant is not a sign of disrespect but a reference that they may not be aware of certain facts. However when someone exhibits “willful ignorance” it indicates dishonest position and it should be challenged in the strongest way possible.
As you say, the motives sometimes trump rational thought.

GS
Government is the acquisition and application of power. Many people may start out with idealistic mindset of doing what is good for the public. However, once in office they and faced with the necessity of dealing with people who may have been attracted to the office for no reason than power. It also attracts people with strong egos. Power and Ego make for a difficult compromise.
Politics is the process of compromise and persuasion. The American System is based not allowing one person or group of people to bulldoze the rest. Unfortunately, it is also based on an enlightened voting public as the final check and balance. I think setting term limits would deteriorate into a job interview for better paying jobs after government service. A senator, for instance, would have six years to make contacts with the rich and powerful to insure future fame and fortune. Don’t misunderstand me as not being in favor of rich and powerful people. You will disagree on how they got that way, by my belief is that most rich and powerful people got that way by providing a product or service that attracted the most consumers. I could make a fortune if I was the only Buggy Whip manufacturer in the USA. That would only be true if the year was 1880 and Henry Ford had never been born.
In the final analysis, laws and crony connections will always rule until the electorate decides to make a change. We have done that in the past and most likely will in the future. It is a messy business but so far I think it is still the best system ever designed by man. But it requires an educated and involved public.

Among the many things I have learned in my life is that when a person prefaces his remarks with his resume, you need to watch out because there is a doozy coming down the pike. That is standard procedure in politics. The country was still mad about the pardon of Richard Nixon by Gerald Ford. Jimmy oversold his Good intentions do not always create good results. My point is that I have no doubt on the sincerity of JC’s religious beliefs. It is just his competence that I had concerns about.
Lillian epitomizes the classic southern woman. Sweet as can be but hard as a rock when necessary. Most from the Northern, regions do not really understand the strength of the South rested in the women down here. It may be one of the few southern traits that GTW got correct.
Among some of Jimmy’s problems are that he alienated his own party with his process oriented approach to management and arrogant attitude toward the entrenched politicians. In Washington if you cross the Kennedy’s you are toast. Quotes from the link below:

"He had no base in the Democratic party and few friends in the federal government, making it difficult for him to achieve his purposes.

Despite his intelligence, he had a vindictive streak, a mean streak, that surfaced frequently and antagonized people,

He became so absorbed in detail he never was able to articulate a coherent public policy, foreign or domestic."
