I was shown a video where 3rd graders were being taught a concept of figuring the area of on a horizontal plane, a rectangle. The was created in Beaufort County. It was sincerely an odd, convoluted formula of completing an extra simple task.

I don't know if it was common core math. I am not an authority on common core math.

I do, however, understand math, and still use the science on a regular basis.

First of all: Why should 3rd graders be even taught calculating quantities of any areas in the 3rd grade?

What 3rd graders, and up until 5th and 6th grade should be taught is the basics of how to work out basic math problems: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions ... all WITHOUT a calculator, a computer.

Maybe in the upper grades of primary school start with word problems, and still NO calculators.

What I am professing is that our youth need to learn how to cypher in their brains, on paper, and understand why their brains are being pounded into nimble tools, and learn the concept and the vast importance of math.

Then start teaching geometry (not the way they taught it years ago, which was far too complicated for most children), but as a useful tool, which is the intention of pure geometry. At this point, let children use a calculator, while teaching very basic trigonometric concepts. Now, teach children how to figure quantities on the horizontal plane, and then the vertical plane.

Then let them learn algebra, a big language of mathematics, and at this point trigonometry will become much simpler to understand. I have another suggestion here. Schools need to acquire surplus surveying equipment, get out on the school grounds, and then teach middle schoolers how some real geometric shapes are measured ... real hands-on is good for complete visualization, and that is immeasurably important to show the WHY of it all, while showing a little bit of the HOW of it.

This is how I would suggest teaching math ... and I know it would work.

At least today adults would be able to read a ruler, make change, or understand the concept of simple fractions; some may even venture into the technical fields.

What a concept: Knowing how to do stuff.

Child mutilation, and its irreversible effects, will be a massive issue going forward, with lawsuits ad nauseum.

It will be wise that governments, especially public schools, shed themselves of this sorry business NOW, and they remain shed of this ghastly concept, which is not necessary in so many instances where it becomes an extra-elective surgery harming those under the age of majority.

I have constituents, many of whom have been with me through 7 successful elections, and the closer I am to an election, the closer I know who my constituents are, and the better they KNOW who I am.

Once I am elected, I am their voice, and I will submit to all, I am their wise voice, and until I step down or am unelected, I remain their political voice. Accordingly, I will do all within my power to govern accordingly as I see fit to do so in a manner in which I have held myself out to be, in a manner that is fitting to what I believe to be their concerns.

That is an awesome responsibility that I take most seriously, ergo, I stridently defend my constituents against the like of Leftists, such as yourself, your representatives.

While you believe this to be some little cute cliched game that you think you could understand as well as someone such as myself, I assure you this is serious business; and, when I am sitting as a representative of my constituents' voice in this local government, I am actively defending my constituents from the like of those, who elect your representatives, whose actions often run counter with those of my constituents' basic interests.

You have to know that what you flippantly think is real does NOT often align with what my constituents know to be true, and that they will, and they do expect their representatives, such as myself, to stand as a bulwark against much of what you expect your representatives to likewise flippantly enact that my constituents consider detrimental.

I have long been referring to what many refer to as Democrats, and now to a lesser extent Democratics, as what they have become more than a decade ago -Democratic Socialists.

It solved two purposes: I was able to grammatically use the Leftist manipulated word of "Democratic," and also describe them as what they truly are - Democratic Socialists.

Incredibly, I have found that the phrase Democratic Socialist did and still does and chafe members of the Center-Left Coalition of the Beaufort County Commission, including the disloyal RINO commissioners.

It is good to NOW know that the Republican controlled House is following my lead and laying real words to what truly exists.

I see all this so very clearly, and I am not even an "Educator;" however, I do know how teach others how to do stuff, some of it highly technical. What is perplexing me now is that so many in our prospective labor force do not have a sufficient understanding of the basics to embrace the perspective of basic logic. Basic knowledge or "common sense" is being replaced by the Cancel Culture's skewed perspective of what is real.

I also have the capacity to learn from others, and from some individuals who possess no more than a high school education, maybe less. Funny how this construct is now evolving, and I am not alone in this understanding of the worth within those that intrinsically know how to do stuff, real stuff.

Until, I see big changes if the aura of the Education Industry; its true purpose and place in a well functioning society, one that strives to create productive adults in far greater numbers, I will hound this issue, and I will seek to better fund what works by MY concept of what will work, and then what is proved to be working will be rewarded.

We must have a productive workforce, and a population that will strive to become exceptional if this Republic can compete and survive.

Rewarding the nonproductive, or poorly functioning must end in today's and tomorrow's America ... The insipid "Woke" among us be damned.
