The 147,000 is nothing compared to the transfer of $580,000 to the Housing Authority his wife heads, the additional $50,000 settlement and the pending lawsuits the mayor has triggered to keep poor people and affordable housing away from his house. His martini sipping supporters are trying to rally around him but I sense we have a shot to defeat his slate of recruits for City Council and Sadler himself.

What should concern voters is not CYA over what has already happened, but what do we do to see that it does not happen again. This appears to be at least the third time in Beaufort County Schools. That is not acceptable.

Why should anybody take direction from people who can even acknowledge their past ? Being mean to gay and trans people because they exist is just wrong

My son is severely disabled and no one wants to help him since we came to NC. In NY he received Medicaid based on his disability not income. Unfortunately we can’t afford to live in NY because we are retired and living on a limited income. I currently have 1100.00 in medical bills I cannot pay.

My son was adopted in NY and we received an adoption subsidy through NYC instead of Social Security disability. He was shaken at 2 1/2 months old by his foster mother. Because of this we were told we were not eligible for Medicaid even through the pickle act. Please help us help our son he cannot receive any services without it

I'm appalled by the legal costs to taxpayers if accurate but not clear how low income housing in Hotel Louise will adversely affect the revival of the downtown business district.

Mr. Ceres. Not to put too fine a point on your comments re. Mrs. Walker’s actions at the 10-29-23 board meeting, allow us to clarify our point. That point is that if one accepts Mrs. Walker's major premise ("no school board members were aware of the inappropriate assignment and do not condone it...") missed the point also. Nothing she said or did at that meeting would prevent it from happening again and again, as has been true this school year. This Board was told about the policy weaknesses and the first time (when action should have been taken) the response was "it (CRT) is not happening in our schools..." That was demonstrably false. Given the current status of how this board has dealt with inappropriate materials being distributed to our BCS students (not BCCC students), it is obvious that it will happen again, regardless of whether any of these board members know about it in advance or whether they approve of the materials or not. That is a subsidiary issue. The major issue is why have they not fixed this problem long before now? If the understanding between the two organizations is in need of review, which is obvious from the facts, then the primary issue, again, begs the question of why it has not already been addressed and when in fact will it be addressed rather than proffering the lame excuse: "we didn't know…" As Yogi Berra once said: "we aren't arguing about the last pitch, but the next one." We call upon you in your campaigning, to help keep the focus on why this situation happened in the first place. To play on our metaphor, there are horses still in the barn and even if these board members do not know the doors are still open, that is an unacceptable excuse to allow it to continue, or in all due respect to you, justification for diverting the public's attention to subsidiary issues. Again, how could this situation be allowed to happen even after the board was warned about it by the Citizens For Better Government?

One of the FBI guys in the trailer said essentially the same thing that Stalin's KGB chief said - "Show me the man, and I will find you the crime". So, is the KGB now the role model for the FBI? They are certainly "finding" a lot of trumped up "crimes" on Donald Trump, mostly from twisting statutes in ways they have never been twisted before.

If the "test" is not returned, I would give that a resounding yes.

I must be careful, especially on Guest Comments since we do not keep a log of this status of user. We have a log on all our members.

It is my experience that bureaucrats, whose job is to source funds to others to justify those bureaucrats' existence, will find a way to place that money through 'proper channels" employing whatever duplicitous means necessary.

And, I am speaking of Welfare of Illegals in the US of A.

It is obscene that places like New York or the UK are housing these moochers in upscale hotels at taxpayer expense. Giving them tents, like Austria does is more appropriate, if anything. Maybe a disused prison or jail, at most.

With the main party of the left in Germany starting to wake up on the problem of the fake asylum seekers, can we ever expect American Democrat politicians to do so? The idea of giving them negative answers at the border and not letting them enter in the first place is a good one. They should be interviewed hooked to a polygraph, and when they are caught in lies, they need to be immediately ejected back across the border.

Part of the curriculum problem in Beaufort County Schools rests with the Curriculum Director. On the Bridges math curriculum, he was specifically asked if it was Common Core and told the School Board that it was not. Subsequent research showed that in fact it was Common Core and that fact was not too difficult to uncover.

The question is, did our Curriculum Director just not know that, or did he know about it and choose to misrepresent the facts? The first scenario would indicate incompetence in his job and the second would indicate dishonesty. Either way, he is clearly NOT someone the school board can rely on in the curriculum process. He may be loyal flunky to Cheeseman, but not someone the board should rely upon.

Didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. Best not to talk about it and certainly clean it up before the kids learn about it. Poor little snowflakes.

Concerned Taxpayer is correct. Also all parents are in and out of neighborhood schools more. They see teachers and staff more and can see first hand what is going on in the school. In most small schools virtually no one has heard of the Superintendent but everyone knows the Principal.

So shame is good if it's self-awareness, but bullying if it is calling someone else out. Okay, I agree.

So why are YOU actively shaming others by detailing what YOU claim are their sins?

You may be a retired pastor, but so am I.

Take the log out of your own eye, madam.

You are burying your head in the sand, Prendiegirl, if you think this problem has been taken care of. Cheeseman just puts bandaids on a cancer and hope it goes away, but it keeps happening. It happened south of the river. It happened at Washington High School. Now it has happened at the Early College High School. This cancer needs serious treatment, not Cheeseman's useless bandaids.

The BCS policy on curriculum specifically prohibits teaching certain things, but gender transition ideology is NOT one of those that is specifically prohibited. It should be. Cheeseman does not want to take any real action because it might hurt his resume for when he decides to try to move up to a larger, better paying school district. The board needs to push him on things like this because he has no incentive to do them on his own.

Smaller schools for localized areas are much better for race relations because in a smaller group setting students can much more easily relate to each other as individals rather than on an impersonal large group racial stereo type basis. Getting to know each other as individuals is the best way to break down racial stereotyping and racial division. But, of course, the far left WANTS racial division and racial stereotyping.

Jack it is not part of the BCS Curriculum. Dr Loope has addressed it and the teacher has been reprimanded. All this is old news. Thank you for your comment though.
