Comments for What is going on with the School Board?

Plato's "The Cave" seems applicable here

We all know the first schools in the south were integrated in 1954. I can still show you the school in Windsor where the black kids went. You must be younger than me. Did you fail US history? Or attend Hinsdale college?

As usual, you are an uninformed leftwing troll, who wouldn't know what a fact was if one jumped up and bit him. I had black classmates in both junior high school and high school. I don't think any lived in the attendance zone for my elementary school. So take your racist rubbish elsehere, Bobbie.

When you grew up, blacks were not allowed to attend the same school as you. So save it.

We are talking about how leftists use these terms - "diversity, equity, inclusion" as political busswords today, and they have a very different meaning from when I grew up, was in college, or indeed until just a few years ago. I had no pbollem with them they way they were defined then, but the far left today has gone Orwellian and adapted "New Speak" interpretations, and those are indeed anti-white racism, and in the case of "equity" Marxism.

its called context.. So many on the BO are concrete thinkers. Einstein famously said "everything is relative'. He was correct.
The politically far right has a tenancy to cherry pick facts that will support a narrative but this method of argument misses the nuance that is the fabric of our shared history.
Case in point. Stating diversity = anti white racism is absurd in the context of the founding of this county. yet the poster might be factually correct in a given moment in time, he/she is ignoring the bigger picture because it does not suit his/her beliefs.

Buzz ... I'm pretty sure from other comments I've seen from Bob that facts mean literally nothing to him. He "conceded" it depends on who you ask. What the hell does that mean? LOL He said and I quote "For academic year 2021-2022, no Black or African American students are attending Hillsdale College."

So I guess he doesn't consider African-Americans that choose to attend Hillsdale college to be people.

Now that Big Bob is into numbers. Let's look at a few near and dear to us.

East Carolina University 71% White

NC State University is 63.2% White

University of NC is 57.1% White

Hills Dale College is 66.7% White.

Sorry, Bob. You are drinking the cool aid again. Hillsdale has fewer whites than your next-door neighbors in Greenville.

"Diversity, equity, and inclusion" are code words for anti-white racism. Indeed "equity" as it is used by the left today is also a code work for Marxism.

If Bolshevik Bob does not quote the far left narrative, he just makes things up.

So you manufactured a statistic LOL. There are higher proportions of minorities attending Hillsdale College than Yale, Harvard or Berkeley.

Mr. Google. However I will concede it depends on who and how you ask the question. A bastion of diversity and equity they are not.
Commented: Monday, September 11th, 2023 @ 7:41 pm By: big bob
Big Bob ... did you just make that up for the hell of it?

The class demographics for Hillsdale are 68.8% White Non-Hispanic, 10.0% African American, 9.6% Hispanic, 8.4% Asian and 3.2% unknown.

But what do facts matter since you only wanted to make an absurdly, patently false point?

Hillsdale has admitted minority students since it was founded in the 1840s by abolitionists. As usual, Little Bobbie's narrative does not fit the real facts

What is going on with the school board is that we have six members who are rubberstamps for a liberal superintendant. We need to get at least two more who are attuned to parents and taxpayers in the next election. We need board members who understand that the superintendant is the employee, NOT the boss.

As usual, I would expect a Marxist troll like Little Bobbie not to like anything that respects America's heritage like the Hillsdale curriculum. He is more into Maoist and woke cancel culture.

Just for the record, I'm one member of the Beaufort County School Board. I represent all of Beaufort County, and I'm elected from the 2nd District, which includes Aurora Precinct, Edward Precinct, Blounts Creek Precinct, a lot of Gilead Precinct, and part of Chocowinity Precinct. I am one member of a nine-member school board and do not speak for the entire board unless we come together as one to make a full board decision. I'm sure most people know that already.

Congratulations to Mr. Leary on this article. He has kept up with all of this better than anyone I know. Good thing for dictionaries, too. I found the word internecine - that's an effective word.

Still, I realize how difficult it is for the general public to understand my issue in the September 5th meeting to rescind the gag motion without first seeing the April 20th meeting where the gag motion originated.

Also, Mr. Leary has been taping all the board meetings. The gag motion issue is a great example demonstrating how important it is to tape the meetings. I use these tapes all the time to keep things straight in what would be very confusing otherwise. This by itself is a very valuable and much appreciated aid. I've been using this resource plenty concerning the 20 April meeting. Thanks for providing that resource.

Thanks also for people in the community who have expressed their concerns and lent their support to me individually and for our schools as a whole.

Are we to understand that the Board refuses to even consider having a representative from Hilldale College present their social studies program to replace what was previously selected as Savvas with the Rainbow flag? I was told the Savvas program costs about 400 thousand dollars and the Hillsdale program is free. Until we elected the last three new board members the group was merrily going along with teaching CRT. They finally adopted a watered-down version of resistance. Correct me if I am wrong.

A lot of disturbing things in this but to me the 2 most disturbing are:
Eight ( of the 13 schools received a failing grade.
And
April 20, 2023 – Passes motion to limit activities of board members requiring board members be notified prior to any member speaking to anyone in Raleigh. This takes away the board members freedom of speech. Under the US Constitution we all have the freedom of speech and under the NC Constitution Article 1 Declaration of Rights Sec. 14. Freedom of speech and press. Freedom of speech and of the press are two of the great bulwarks of liberty and therefore shall never be restrained, but every person shall be held responsible for their abuse.
