From man made structures in full repose deep in the shallow waters of Broad Creek to a fully functioning ship of the sea in full repose upon this state hard-surfaced road, there was an astounding and ghastly ambience to the area: Above and below.    photos by Stan Deatherage


Without possible objection, the most astounding vision in Hurricane Irene's aftermath was the Belle of Washington perched atop this pier, just about a 1/4 mile north of the Washington Yacht and Country Club located far up Broad Creek: Above.    photo by Stan Deatherage
