"Every Picture Tells a Story ... Don't It:" On the Road in Myrtle Beach: Chapter I - Summer, 2011 | Eastern North Carolina Now

Clouds are the biggest component of any noteworthy sunrise, and this sunrise was no exception: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

The day begins for me and many others with this sunrise. At this time of the day, the waves are generally calm, the air is cooler, and action of the folks, also enjoying these quiet moment, rather benign. It's a wonderful time of the day at the seashore: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

The morning continues into yet another beautiful day, and at this time of the year the days are very long, and getting hotter: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

For this week in June, the waves were gentle and the children ebullient: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

So very close to where I take my lodging is the Myrtle Beach State Park, where there are no "high-rises," just campers. We, intuitively, always walk south toward the state park when we walk the beach for exercise. We love the seclusive nature of this part of the most southern reaches of Myrtle Beach: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

I finish Chapter I with these pictures of these three young girls, dressed for a beachfront wedding, minus the shoes. These darling children remind me of the little "Warvey Girls" from the great Coen Brothers film, "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou." One of my favorite comedies of all time, and I loved the music too. These pictures do so much remind of those Warvey Sisters, who spoke in unison and sang in harmony: Above and both pictures below.     photos by Stan Deatherage
