Registered Dietitian Joins Washington Pediatrics Staff | Eastern NC Now

Dr. Deborah Ainsworth, Dr. Debra Birdsong, Dr. Russell Cook and Dr. Mark Karpinski welcome Andrea Nikolai, MPH, RD, LDN, a certified registered dietitian.

    (Washington, N.C.) - Dr. Deborah Ainsworth, Dr. Debra Birdsong, Dr. Russell Cook and Dr. Mark Karpinski welcome Andrea Nikolai, MPH, RD, LDN, a certified registered dietitian, to the staff of Washington Pediatrics. Andrea counsels patients and their families on nutrition and physical activity to decrease disease risk and achieve a healthier lifestyle. In addition, Andrea works with community programs and events aimed at improving nutrition and physical activity knowledge and increasing availability of physical activity resources and nutritious food and drinks.

    Nikolai received a Master of Public Health in Nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008. She received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Minnesota State University Moorhead in May of 2004.

    Prior to joining Washington Pediatrics, she worked with the practice and Coastal Children's Clinic in New Bern through a grant administered through East Carolina University called IN4Kids. Previously she has worked for Del Monte Foods as Nutrition and Regulatory Affairs Assistant and with the NC
Department of Health and Human Services.

    She serves on the Beaufort County Physical Activity and Nutrition Coalition and the Beaufort County Schools Health Advisory Council.

    Washington Pediatrics is located at 1206 Brown Street. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. for sick patients only. The office can be reached by calling 946-4134.
