For Immediate Release:

Reminder of efforts to prevent child abuse to be planted at Eastern Elementary School Washington, March 31, 2011: On Monday, April 11 at 10 a.m., Eastern Elementary School in Washington will be the host site for The Beaufort-Hyde Partnership for Children's Child Abuse Awareness event - the planting of a Pinwheel Garden.

The Pinwheel is the new symbol of child abuse prevention, representing the community efforts to provide children with the safe, stable, nurturing relationships they need for healthy development, according to Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina (www.preventchildabusenc.org). Mayor Archie Jennings, District Attorney Seth Edwards and BCS Superintendent Don Phipps are among those on the agenda to speak as a part of this awareness event. The concept of the garden is designed to represent the "bright future all children deserve."

At the conclusion of the event, those in attendance will help plant the Pinwheel Garden, which will be visible from the intersection of Hudnell Street and John Small Avenue.

The public is invited to attend.
