    On February 26, 2014, Kacey Reann Midgette, age 33, of 1173 Grey Farm Road in Jamesville, NC, was served with arrest warrants stemming from 11 counts of Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud.

    The investigation began when Diversion Investigator Greg Rowe with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit received a complaint in reference to suspicious activity at two local pharmacies in Beaufort County. Investigator Rowe discovered Midgette, a former Licensed Practical Nurse for a doctor's office in Washington County, was calling in prescriptions for large quantities of Hydrocodone for herself using the identities of her associates. Midgette then travelled to the two pharmacies in Beaufort County and obtained the prescriptions she had called in for her own personal use. The total number Hydrocodone obtained by Midgette as a result of the 11 fraudulent prescriptions was 1,100 dosage units over a 6 month period.

    Kacey Midgette was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under $11,000 secured bond. Midgette is also under investigation for similar charges in Martin and Washington Counties.
