Annual Children's Miracle Network Hospitals radiothon to be held March 21 - 23, 2014 | Eastern NC Now

    The 17th annual 'Music for Miracles' radiothon, set for March 21-23 on 107.9 WNCT, raises funds to help sick and injured children in eastern North Carolina through Children's Miracle Network Hospitals to benefit James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital at Vidant Medical Center.

    GREENVILLE     Radio listeners will have a chance to brighten the world for hospitalized children during the 17th annual "Music for Miracles" radiothon March 21-23 on 107.9 WNCT.

    The three-day radio marathon raises money to benefit the programs and services of Maynard Children's Hospital. In 2013, there were more than 48,000 pediatric inpatient and outpatient visits from a 29-county region in eastern North Carolina.

    "Our efforts over the past 16 years have been so successful, and year after year we see how much people in eastern North Carolina care about this children's hospital," said Dr. Ronald Perkin, co-medical director, James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital; professor and chairman, Department of Pediatrics, Brody School of Medicine at ECU; chief of pediatrics, Vidant Medical Center and the James and Connie Maynard Distinguished Professor. "We are looking forward to another successful radiothon this coming weekend and continuing to raise funds to improve the lives of the children we treat."

    Since the first radiothon in 1998, the event has raised more than $3 million.

    For the on-air personalities of 107.9 WNCT, the "Music for Miracles" radiothon is a spring highlight and a project they all eagerly anticipate.

    "We get very excited about the radiothon and know it's going to be a huge success," said on-air personality Donna Kelly. "107.9 WNCT's listeners have big hearts and are some of the most generous people I know. The children we have met over the years are just amazing. There's a certain energy in just knowing that what we do over those three days will help countless children across eastern North Carolina. We believe in miracles, and we know our listeners believe, too!"

    Children's Miracle Network Hospitals is a fund-raising program of the Vidant Medical Center Foundation. Maynard Children's Hospital in Greenville serves children and their families living throughout a 29-county region in eastern North Carolina.
