    Raleigh, NC     The Office of Governor Pat McCrory announced the following appointments today:

    North Carolina Partnership for Children Inc.

   •  Nancy Brown (Wake County) - Dr. Brown will serve as chair. Brown once served as head of the Child Day Care Section, a precursor to the Division of Child Development and Early Education. She has worked as a teacher at all levels of schooling. She was the first director of the child care program serving employees of the United States Senate in Washington. She is a reappointment to the partnership.

   •  Carole Wilson (Wake County) - Wilson serves on the board for SAFEchild, the Durham Nativity School and others. She is a reappointment to the partnership.

   •  Anna Mercer-McLean (Durham County) - Mercer-McLean is the executive director of the Community School for People under Six.

   •  Robert Eagle (Mecklenburg County) - Eagle is the vice president and treasurer of Eagle Holdings & Development, Inc.

   •  John (Zac) Everhart (Craven County) - Everhart is a co-owner of Excel Learning Centers.

   •  Rosemary Stein (Alamance County) - Dr. Stein is a pediatrician with IFC Pediatrics.

   •  Douglas Punger (Forsyth County) - Punger is the chair of the board for Smart Start of Forsyth County.

   •  Charles Morris (Cumberland County) - Morris is an owner of Morris, Colyer and Associates Inc. He is a reappointment to the partnership.

   •  James Morrison (Wake County) - Morrison is the president of United Way of North Carolina. He is a reappointment to the partnership.

   •  Lorie Barnes (Wake County) - Barnes is the executive director of the North Carolina Association for the Education of Young Children.

   •  Pearl Burris-Floyd (Gaston County) - Burris-Floyd is the vice president of governmental affairs for the Greensboro Partnership. She previously worked as an advisor at the Department of Health and Human Services. She is a reappointment to the partnership.

    The partnership ensures that all children have access to high-quality early childhood education and development services and devises a strategic plan for early childhood development. The term length is three years.
